Ive not had great experiences with MAX.  Can anyone recommend a similar easy to use software.  I can't tell from the dbpoweramp site whether it works for mac but appreciate any suggestions

I've been using XLD, for quite awhile.  Excellent free program.

Another vote for XLD. Best ripper/converter I've used on a Mac.

MAX was once good but appears to be abandonware at this point. Another vote for XLD here, and MediaHuman Audio Converter isn't bad, although more of a work-in-progress. Converts to/from a variety of formats but no ripping functions iirc.

I stopped using flacs for a few years and revisited about 6 months ago. xld made the whole process fun. Its so fast with modern processsors. I think i read it utilizes all cores of your processors. takes seconds compared to minutes from years ago.  great software!

What problems have you had with Max?  It's been working great for me for years, as does the other sbooth programs

I have used xact for years. Since I started to use decibel for playback I have no need to decode anything.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions .   Re max, my issues are it has problems searching and finding tracks, it won't find artwork, and most importantly simply won't convert a lot of tracks, getting to 98 percent then errors.

abernardi, max does nothing for me- meaning it crashes whenever I try to rip anything. Used to work fine. Who knows, ymmv...

I started to use MAX to transcode files and it was fine. XLD seems more robust when it comes to ripping and I do like the reports and AccurateRip

I think MAX just doesn't like me.
