Ann Wilson is *arguably* the best female rocker ever. A duet with her and Janis kickin' the crap out of "Me and Bobby McGee" would be something special.  :thumb:

I'm also very fond of the Amy Lee from Evanescence..

I second Amy Lee.  If you have ever heard her live on the piano without the band she will give you goosebumps. Her vocal range is astounding.   Outside of that, she is a cool girl donating time to the cartoon network and sesame street. True Rocker.

Regarding Grace Potter, she's cool. I really like here. Not sure I'd call her a rocker though.

Bob,

If not a rocker, how would you describe her or what would you call her? Have you seen GP & the Nocturnals in concert? To me that was one terrific rock n roll concert.

You got me there Laura. I have not seen their concert, but have a couple albums.
I just didn't get that rocker vibe while listening.

Looks like I need to do some more research.

Not sure what category I'd put her in. Let me chew on that one. Some of these folks aren't "genre-fiable" to me.

Did you catch the link I gave to her video?

I'm not sure you can categorize her. She's damn good at anything she wants to do. Course I'm biased being from Vermont and all.

The link was very cool. I would have loved to see her and Hall and Oats together. I agree with you about some folks not being "genre-fiable." I think "rocker" is one of those terms that is like art -- an eye of the beholder or in this case the ears and eyes of the beholder thing. :D

Is it hot & humid in St. Louis yet? I spent 3 summers in Columbia and everytime I went to St. Louis for a Cardinals game I realized St. Louis was in a whole different league when it comes tosummer heat & humidity.

Best,

Laura

I've been to three of the band's concerts, and they do rock.  They also play rhythm & blues, and white soul.

It'll be 108 today.   That's about 10 degrees higher than normal.
The humidity (for June in St. Louis) is remarkably low. But even so, I'm still not too fond of it.  :?

When I think of "rocker", I'm thinking of studded black leather, electric guitars, no slow ballads, and lots of attitude.
The lack of that from Grace is why I'm not putting her in that genre. But hey, like I said, I need more research.
I'm off work today and will be listening to some new (to me) Grace Potter on Pandora while I grill some porks steaks and drink beer.  8)

You obviously haven't seen her in concert.  :D  I've seen her in sequin studded black leather and she plays several guitars and also piano.  She's got attitude up the wazoo.  Like I said, the band plays several musical styles (including some slow songs) but do rock hard for part of their set.

Laura, it's 1:27, and I'm thinking about you. haha Enjoy the t-time.

Paul, I looked in the IGWB and didn't see anything?
Nice video of GP, I like that.
That's getting close to being "rockish", but .....not quite.... (for me) labled a "rocker" type music.
The sexy, sequined mini skirts don't scream "rocker" to me either.  Although she's looking awesome wearing them.   :o
