New (NooB) SP2 Setup Help - No LCD
« on: 12 Jun 2012, 09:01 am »
Hi

I have just received my sp2 and 875HT.
I have unboxed and went to run the setup but the LCD is blank. I pressed the OSD button on the remote, rebooted the unit a couple of times but I can't get anything to show on the LCD.

Any advice or help would be much appreciated

Cheers

Kurt

Hi Kurt,

Sounds like the LCD is not set correctly or it is burned out.  Where did you purchase it?

Hi James - thanks for your quick reply.

I purchased it through Syntec in Sydney, Australia

They are closed right now (it's 9.17PM).....my excitement got the better of me and I decided to hit the forum for possible answers.

The unit seems to switch sources and adjust volume from the remote just fine - it's just the LCD that is black and not lit up

Cheers

Kurt

OK it may just need a brightness adjustment or a new LCD.

Can brightness be adjusted by the user or is a return to dealer adjustment?

Hi Al

The 875 rocks! I hooked it up to a Marantz receiver I have, the additional sounds while watching TV/movies was remarkable. All of the different sound modes work properly (they didn't when the Marantz was amplifying) - very excited to get it all going!!

The amp is brand new and I hook it up to 5.1 speakers...unfortunately they are Bose speakers....but hey...I can always upgrade....

James

I got in contact with a local service repair agent - they will have the unit tonight and will work their magic on it

Many thanks for your help - the great service from Bryston that people talk about on this forum has continued

hi, Kurt!

thanks for reply. i have the same setup at home in the bedroom (SP2&875) and the sound is really cool!
one more question: since your amp is brandnew does the power button, frontplate or the ratings label at the back of the 875 indicates it as a "SST2" amp?

many thanks,

al.

G'day Al

the unit I purchased was not the new model so it doesn't have the features you have listed.
BTW - that is one hell of a rig for a bedroom!
