I know you've had a lot of replies but I'm sad to hear it, having just read it. I hate that we outlive our best friends many times over, and if there's an afterlife I desire that all my pets would meet me there. Otherwise I'll settle for oblivion.

James,

I'm so sorry to hear about losing your buddy Tyson. My heart goes out to you and your family. Chris and I have lost 5 retrievers (we have always pairs) over the last 25 years and it is always heartbreaking.

Have you considered getting a puppy - they are great for the healing process.

Hi Greg,

Thought about getting another puppy-  but just can not seem to get past this loss yet.

Thanks for your concern - much appreciated.

It would be a pretty crappy afterlife without your pets.
Chin up, James, it will get better.
When you're ready the right one will come along.
