BRM's blue bayou tamo ash SoundScape 8's

BRM wanted the very first pair of SoundScape 8's and would have had them if he had not selected a finish that took longer to complete.  But at least he got the second pair.

He started the project searching for a lighter colored veneer (after having quite a few pairs of darker speakers).  But he wanted something that would really pop.  He described a veneer he had seen one time and I knew exactly what he was talking about.  I showed him a picture of tamo ash and that was it.

As the project progressed, he started to wonder if a dye might be in order.  We talked about a deep rose red, various shades of brown, orange and amber.  Then he thought we may has well get a little bold and green and blue were added to the list.  Now it was getting complicated.

So we veneered a couple of scraps and shot various colors of dye on them.  It was hard to make a decision.  Should he go conservative or wild?

In the end, he decided to walk on the wild side and use a blue dye.  The faceplates on his amps were anodized blue.  So they would certainly match.  Of course, he realized that he would likely never be able to use his SoundScapes in his living room, but in his man cave...well that was another story.

Here are some pictures...

And a single speaker...

And a close-up...

And a shot of the rear of a cabinet...

Now all he needs is a fish tank with a blue Siamese fighting fish.

Happy listening Pete!

How did I know he would choose the blue... will go perfect with the rest of the room.  I'm sure they sound great!

The veneer is stunning.  No doubt these will sound as good as they look.

Too bad these will not be at AK Fest so those attending might admire them.

Enjoy!

Looking awsome. I like its attitude. All SS8 must be on the Wild side. Congratulation. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Reminds me of a tribal tattoo theme.  Nice.  Congratulations.

Hope you will post impressions, particularly between HT2-TL and SS8 as that will likely be my decision.

Very nice BRM, and unique as well. Congrats. Can only imagine how good they will sound in your system, and a match for the Dude color-wise. Mark up another winner for Jim & company.   :thumb:

From the samples shown I didn't think they would look this good. Another outstanding design and finish from a master craftsman. Enjoy BRM, would love to hear the SS8' some day.  :thumb:

In the end, he decided to walk on the wild side and use a blue dye.

The wild side? Really?  Considering he had a previous pair of speakers (HT2-TL?) that were bright red, these are quite tame and conservative in comparison!

Very cool!  Though not a color I'd have thought to consider, they are really striking.  Hope to get by for a listen at the end of April!
