Hello,

This weekend also the VR 9 SE mk II arrived at the Airport Schiphol in Amsterdam.
The owner allowed us to 'break them in' while he is having Holiday before they find a definitive place connected to his own set of Kronzilla DX.

Our local dealer Ben Hoedjes will make some space in his Studio to aclimate the VR 9 SE mk II and show some first musicality.  The VR 9 SE mk II, (retail $ 90.000) is the second in top of the line made by the hands of VSA. Albert and Damon assured us this is a breakthrough in Musical Reality.

Details about VR 9 SE mk II are to be found on the website of VSA: www.vonschweikert.com

That is truly a beautiful speaker. I am sure it will be a nice addition to their lineup.

Hey Cor...

Went to the Alkmaar website.  What are those tall speakers in the photo?  They don't look familiar.

Hi Gavin,

This is a old picture of the shop.
The big brothers in this picture are a set of vintage Avalon Osiris with external crossovers.
This set was sold a few years ago.

He has to refresh the picture. I think it will be a picture with the VR 9 SE mk II on.

Tomorrow I will shoot some pictures when the VR 9 SE mk II setup is ready.

Well Jack, here we go, first some pictures.

A video is for later.

Wow, what a piece of Art these VR 9 SE mk II. Very well done Albert, Damon and all of the VSA crew who worked hard to realize this MK II from the start. Beautiful finish. We needed some manpower to bring them in due to some stairs we had to take. Just fresh from the crate, connected to the Kronzilla DX and than there is music in a way it is hard to describe.
Almost real. OK, they need a few hours to break in but I know when there is music from the start, they will grow to very high level. The first that came up in my mind was the experience I had a few years ago when I was in Romania tuning the VR 11 SE. The sound from the VR 9 SE mk II is so familiar to them. Of course, I know they 'just' are the half of them.

After a few days we are ready to fine tune the set. We use the analog Stellavox equipment to get a flat response from the system. But the factory adjustment points are a good start.

Stay tuned.

Cor

They look great, for some reason they remind me of the streamlined locomotives of the 1920's - 1930's.
Big powerful machines that get the job done without any effort.

That they are Wayne. At very low levels you always feel you get the full spectrum and at stupid loud levels there's no pain. I always keep my iPhone RTA handy because it is so easy to go overboard into dangerous SPL territory.

Looks like you're already having a blast Cor. Great pics!

What's the turntable arm and cart?

I'm sure that wine is remarkably improved by the speakers.  Luv to hear them in the right circumstances.

Looks nice Cor!  :)

Could you please make a video with a couple of songs that really highlights the VR9 strenghts?
That would be very nice to hear and see, even though I know perfectly well that a video-clip don't come close to showing the full picture, but it would still be nice to get a little impression of what such a speaker can do!  :)

Kind regards,
Rune

Hello Rune,

There probably will be a video within a few days.

@ Henry, we connected the Magic line of Harmonic Technology for this occasion.
The Photon AMP is used to transport the signal to the Kronzila's.

I noticed the arrows on the HT Magic were pointed the wrong way...

If you look closely, the arrow shaft stub and the bottom of the arrowheads are a bolder white and the tips are fine lines. They're pointing the right direction :)

Sorry Woot but Jack is right.

Ok, it is hard to see but the direction of the arrow is in the right position.

Anyway, thanks for your concerning.

Hey now, I had Polk Monitor 10Bs for 18 years or so, until I bought VR-2s...although I will admit that I haven't heard anything new from Polk in the last decade or more that I liked much.
