I'm shopping for a new dac, $1K-$1500.  (4) inputs preferred:  2 SPDIF & 2 optical.

Looks like the Antelope Zodiac would be fine but its on the high side pricewise.  I'm wondering if anyone knows of other good options. Used is OK.

I currently have a Tranquility and a new grant fidelity dac-11 but am planning a 2nd system with the dac-11.  Don't think i'll need or want usb anymore, probably get a converter for the mac mini & run spdif cable since the dac is 15' away.

Both the cable tv & PS3 only have optical outputs and require 15' cables.  The mac mini sits below that gear & also needs a long cable.  A sacd player is on the other side of the room 1-2 meters from the dac.  Its an odd set-up due to an audio system on one end & video on the other.  Only the sacd is used for serious listening but all sources play thru my speakers.

hdmi cables are limited in length, esp when using a switcher box, and this keeps 3/4 of my sources far from the dac.

any assistance is appreciated.

You can try the Dual Beast DAC from Ross Martin Audio, which starts at $280 via fleebay.  Got one recently with some of the upgraded opamps, OPA627's and OPA1602's, and it sounds pretty good to my ears.  Can't compare it to DACs in the $1000-1500 range though since I haven't heard any in my own home.

Rega DAC.  Mine sounds awesome to my ears, as usually everyone's gear sounds great to their ears
