The second guitar was finished today.  It is a combination of ideas from the Gibson Custom Shop TI SG and the JayDee Old Boy:

Here is the Laney Supergroup amp head coming from the UK.

The setup is nearing completion.  Just some work on the amp to refurbish it and ready to make some music!

Bunky,
Thanks!  It has been a fun project getting them all built and playing them.

The luthier doing all the guitar work is Moritz Guitars.  Lou does great work!

Once the Laney amp is running, time to make some music!

Have seen a lot of pictures of Frank Zappa with SG's.

That is Roxy.  Gibson just did a reissue of that guitar and Dweezle discussed how it was done.

The Supergroup refurbish is going well.  Did the first round of power supply cap replacements.   Waiting on a new power switch as the original has a broken off bat handle.

Once the switch is replaced, time for the Variac to bring it up slowly with AC voltage.  It's going to get loud!  Found some nice Etymotic Research sound attenuating ear plugs to try.

The Laney Supergroup MKI 100 watt chassis is running and making music!  Still needs some more power supply cap replacement, but it is very close to putting it back in the original cabinet.

Finally, here is a short clip of what the setup sounds like.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqFM2lLRwuk

Fun part is the original recording is HiRez 24bit/96KHz.  Can only use 16bit/48KHz for the video.

HAL,
How much variation on the necks are you finding?
It seems like there's at least three basic profiles on the SG neck.
This Classic I'm trying to come to grips with is both wide AND fat which is a strange combination.
It doesn't feel like my old Standard from the 70s or recent issue Special.

My '72 Gibson SG Special is a much different neck profile than the newer guitars.  The new ones are wider and thicker than the '72.  The Epi's are wide but thin.
