Somebody please tell me that Dennis Rodman wasn't really ever her boyfriend, that it was just a publicity stunt.

Compared to her, he's as normal as can be.

At a garage sale last summer, I bought Madonna's Immaculate Collection CD for 5o cents. It is a little lacking in the bass department, but if your system images great, this is one of the most holographic CD's that you will ever hear. Her CD is in the same league as Roger Walters Amused to Death. You will swear you are listening to a 5.1 surround system.

Now how did the music producers accomplished that?

There are various names for the effect (Q-sound, etc.) but it's just playing with the phase of certain tracks in a mix. Simple stuff.

Thanks Crimson, I wish more CD's were mixed that way. Anyway more pop would sound better.

I see Madonna as a kid like you or me who set out to make her way in life and had the chutzpah, charisma and savvy to hit a high target. Unlike us, she became wealthy and famous. As for pandering to the basest of our natures, have you watched the news lately, or ever? She seems pretty pure compared to what commonly emits from the mouths of preachers and politicos.

There are a world of products out there that I ignore. She's just another one of them.

What I hated seathingly, passionately without reservation, compunction or conscience was - Billy Mays. That son of a bitch still echoes everywhere. Yucchh!!!!

That's funny because I see Madonna as a talentless hag.  I'm sure the Superbowl performance will have lots of special effects and other dancers to distract people and I'm sure people will talk about how good she looks for a 60 year old, or whatever she is.  I could not imagine paying anything to see this hose bag.

Every time I hear this beeotch speaking with that fake British accent I want to puke. If this is your thing, more power to you.

What about "I see" don't you understand?  I was just stating my opinion. If Madonna is your idea of a talented artist, more power to you.  I think she is a disgusting dried up hag who either lip syncs or uses heavy electronic effects while doing aerobics on stage, for stooges who don't know any better than to pay big bucks to see this tramp.

Just my opinion.

Obviously, it's your opinion.  Sometimes I think you're right, and this time I think you've overstated and think you're wrong.
Just my opinion.  However, I do like your dog.

Hey, now I feel guilty for being so mean.  That's my dog Pogo, a Jack Russell rough coat.  He's the smartest dog I have ever had.  He is also the most athletic.  We picked him up at the pound about two years ago.  He is only 20 lbs but is feerless and thinks he is 100 lbs.  He's NOT cat-friendly, which is good because it keeps my wife from getting a cat.

Cheers,

Jack

Audio is just from a camera, but put her on a mike feed and enjoy.

And the apple does not fall far from the tree. My 13 yr. old daughter.

I looked her up on Wiki - she'll be 54in August. While I was there I read about her a bit. Many of you guys who are speaking of her disparagingly should go over there and educate yourselves. She's had a monumental impact on music and culture over the past 30 years. She has been listed #25 out of the 100 most influential women. The only other singer to make the list was Aretha Franklin - pretty good company to be in. Give the material girl a break.

Seriously...'exposed'?

Her biggest hit and the one most associated with her is 'Material Girl' released 25 years ago.

btw, now that she fixed the Lauren Bacall smile, she looks fantastic for 53.

EDIT: way to go on those lady crooners, Ronny - I saw your post after I posted  :thumb:

Well she used to blow Jellybean Benitez ( NY DJ) to get her albums played so gotta give her credit from starting from humble beginnings.

I'm not disputing any of that. All I'll say is six years ago my wife went to see her live and Auntie M really was a shadow of her former self performance wise. Not that that is surprising. We all get old. Music wise she may even be better. That isn't the question here though. The question isn't whether or not we'd like to hear her new album, it's whether or not we'd pay 300 bucks to see her perform it. There's a second thing too. Obviously she's going to be playing a lot of her past hits too. Who wants to see a 54 year old Madonna singing and gyrating to the words "Like a virgin, touched for the very first time" , "Papa don't preach....I'm keepin' my baby", or striking the Vogue pose?

Try to imagine Avril Lavigne singing Skater Boy 30 years from now or those no longer kids Hanson brothers singing MmmmBop :duh: :duh: :duh: It just reaches a point where one just can't get away with it anymore. IMO she's at that point. Hits or not, even Jackson had to stop singing ABC at some point.

I actually typed this response 35 minutes ago. Right now I'm just moving my fingers over the keyboard, pretending to type. Does it matter? Can you tell as you read it?

I remember an interview with one of the Beatles years ago. He said they stopped doing stadium concerts because they couldn't even hear themselves play or sing in all that bedlam. Quite possibly lip syncing is the most effective way to produce a decent sound. Given the acoustics - and echoes - in such a venue, why even pretend to care about sound? It's really just all about hype, name, notoriety, etc. A presence is needed - not a performance.
