Thanks for all the tips guys. Here what I've tried - which might help other computer newbies.
My first problem was that I could not figure out how to "get into" my router. Most websites seem to leave this part out, I guess because it's so simple and most techies know. For those who don't, you just open your web browser and key in the IP address of your router.
When I did this, my Linksys had a section where you could assign an IP. It showed the IP addresses already used for the open devices, so I could just click on a section to permanently assign it. Wireless laptop and bridged Touch, done!
So we'll see if this holds. My first configuration was running the laptop wirelessly and running the Touch on the SB2. That paused frequently on regular res. and had a really hard time with 24/96. Using the laptop bridge is way better and it runs 24/96 effortlessly, no pauses. 24/192 is another matter, that doesn't run at all.
