OK, Bro, moving on.....................

As mentioned before the man cave serves several purposes, so room treatments need to be easily moved, CHEAP, and not too ugly (oh, sorry, Bob!   )

I'll keep you posted but it may be a day or so.  I think I loaned the big panels to a buddy.   :thumb:

We want better reports and pictures. Have you moved the 20.1 a bit in your room? What did you experience? Ok I also know that after the 20.1 are in the room , everybody needs to come down and then judge fairly.
If you won't deliver, your wife will   , sorry I had to. :icon_lol:

Nice thread ... It is peaking my interest in planers

For room treatment ... It does not get any better than GIK acoustics ... Prices are slightly above DIY and performance is A+. Besides you get great advice for free ... Not just what joe thinks ;). They have WAF options too but that add$ up. But wife choose art work :))

A good size room(like thunderbricks), good placement of speakers, good amp and you don't need almost no treatment. Dipol speakers can be heaven with well sized rooms, the only problem is the front wall, a combination of difussion and absorption helps here. But you can easily over shut it.
I didn't believe it myself after i got 20.1 and good amplification, there is no need for heavy room treatment only the normal houshold things.

OK, by popular demand............PHOTOS!   :thumb:

I just turned the speakers so that they are pointed almost directly at me.  Listening to a fairly dry (not reverberant) CD, and it doesn't echo or slap much.  Room is 22x26x10.  Speakers are on the 22 ft wall, 11' apart (center-to-center) 6.5 feet from the front wall, 5.5 feet (c-t-c) from the side walls, and about 12' from the listening position.

A true audiophile indeed! Usually it's the other way around! 65 inch screen, NO speakers, and about three feet from there to the couch

I like your version better.

That must sound incredible.

Thanks, R!

Yeah, it does sound great!  Regarding the big screen TVs, concert programs and MTV don't interest me, and with the life span of flat panels I HATE the idea of spending $1,000s on something that will be soon outdated.

I prefer to find the best of older technology (tubes, CRTs) that people discard as obsolete.  It cost me about $500 total for FOUR Sony 34" CRTs that I have all over the house and the picture is great.  I will splurge on investment-quality devices that will be here a LONG time.   My Hasselblads, (30+ years), Dahlquist DQ-10s (30+ years) I sold last May, robust furniture, and I'll don't want to be nickle-and-dimed to death on the latest fads (iPhone, fancy cuisine, HBO, the ELCasssette ) My cell phone is 5 years old and looks like hell, but WORKS.  And it drives my wife NUTS, so that's a bonus.   :icon_twisted:

Let somebody ELSE take the huge depreciation, I don't mind second-hand.   :thumb:

Oh, yeah, did I mention that my wife was married before......................?

Everything second hand?

I would try them move closer to you and more into the room.
Or try the HK setup, go to the rack and listen from there, just try it and report back

VERY nice Bob. Very nice indeed.

Since you aren't' going to brag on yourself, I will.
I'd venture a guess that a lot of the fellas here don't know the level of sweat equity (blood, sweat and tears) you've invested in your room. Since we've got you in a picture posting mood, how about posting some of those build pictures of the room itself.

You should be very proud of what you've done. Time for a pat on the back buddy.

Beautiful all around.
I especially like what you've done with the LP storage, that gives me some ideas for here at Happy Valley.
May the bluebird of happiness never crap on your speakers.
