Looking for very small "bookshelf"
« on: 24 Jan 2012, 03:27 pm »
I am looking for a pair of small bookshelf speakers for my babies room.  Right now I am looking at PSB Image mini or Paradigm Millenia1.  I was also thinking on the small EPOS.  Any suggestions?

I think $600 would be max. The PSB are a bit more but I need to go listen to them.

Maybe a bit less than what you were looking for, but how about NHT?  Super Zero 2.0, Absolute Zero, or Classic Model 2 would all be under your price range.

Another vote for NHT.  Used to own a pair of NHT Superzeros.  Great little speaker and in a baby's room they will be unobtrusive and provide a good sound.

My daughter ended up with mine.

Okay, I'll ask the question nobody else will. Why do you want/need $600.00 speakers in a babies room?

Many people, like to play soft music for babies.  It is restful for the child and helps out the parent sitting in the rocking chair trying to get Junior to go to sleep so the parent can too.  I have ended up asleep in a rocker with my daughter in my arms many times and no, I never dropped her.

If you can't sing your child to sleep (I sound like rusty nails being pulled) a good pair of speakers can.  JMHO & it worked for me.

+1 on the Audioengines.  My wife has the A5 in her studio and I heard the teenie-tiny A2 over at Patrick's.  Both models sound better than they should and have the added convenience of being powered.

Congrats on the baby!

My GF has the Audioengines P4s, powered by a Yamaha receiver. Great sound for the $$.

Seriously? Why wouldn't I?

Good to hear the NHT are good I had them on the radar. Also the Audioengines were on the short list but I want to mount these on the wall and the power and L R connector seems like it would be messier then speaker cables.  Then there is the volume control.

NHT Superzero's and Usher S520 bookshelf's are both good choices.  Usher's are larger though @ 7.09" x 10.43" x 11.81".

They also have passive versions too.

The Audioengine P4 are passives, so mounting them should be easy. Thet're sold in high WAF (BAF?) finishes like gloss white and bamboo.

I seem to have struck a nerve and if so I humbly apologize.

Go to Newegg and get a pair of the little Pioneer bookshelf speakers for under $100 shipped.

I've got the larger version....and they are pretty darned satisfying.

I kid. My point is, why would we put nice speakers anywhere?
