Funny, my experience runs completely counter to yours.  I loved the Rega Jupiter when I heard it and did not like the profoundly overrated (IMO) Scott Nixon Tube Dac + (can you say "pretty" with no verve).

Michael

Michael:
Different strokes I guess. I had the Jupiter in my system for over a month and compared it to a few other players (Sony, AudioNote, etc.). It's NOT a bad player by any stretch. Maybe it just didn't lock with my system. I have nothing against Rega. I like them as a company.

I don't have the Nixon Tube DAC. I have the standard Nixon DAC running through a tweaked MF X10D (no apologies required) and to me this combo makes redbook sound as close to analog as anything I have heard. If that equates to "pretty, no verve" than so be it. I am rediscovering many CDs again. I am in the hobby for enjoyment, not accuracy.

This is exactly why no one should take subjective reviews that seriously. I have heard the Audionote players sound awesome in one system and just plain in another.

Roksan Kandy mkIII / Rega Planet 2000 / Creek CD50mkI / Cary 308 / Arcam 73T / Cambridge Audio Azur 640c.

Long story short - Creek & Cary came out on top and its basically personal preference between the two in terms of which presentation you prefer - I 'slightly' prefer the Creek personally.
