Tunes you CAN'T get out of your head.
« on: 17 Jan 2012, 01:27 pm »
You know what I'm talking about. Hour after hour, day in, day out. Sometimes a song, good or bad, just sits in your consciousness and won't go away (even in your subconscious dream world). So which one is it?

For the past few days it's been Radiohead's Lotus Flower. I go to bed with it and wake up with it, almost non-stop. At least it's better than last month: Aha's Take On Me.

.................I'll set you free................

Electric Light Orchestra

"I can't get it out of my head!"

Not really, but I just couldn't resist the easy lead in.

A few years ago I realized I had an internal jukebox. It contains everything from old advertising jingles to songs I heard yesterday on the radio...and it plays non-stop on random setting.

For a time, I took note of what was playing in the morning and relayed it to my wife. She may think I'm a little looney anyway, so no harm done!

"Everything's better with Blue Bonnet on it."

to

"We could have had it aallllll, rollin in the deeeep"

Am I wired funny?

If I Should Fall from Grace with God - The Pogues  ... because of that darn Subaru commercial with the hockey mom. Great song though.

Now stuck in my head..  She's still singing :)

The cure?  For me at least; cue the song up on the stereo listen to it.  Although I don't have "It's A Small World", I just suffer through it

From many years ago, Kellogs had a jingle to introduce a new breakfast cereal that had a bunch of macho Hawaiian (?) warriors racing through the jungle chanting:
"A-New-A!
A-Now-A!
UGH!
New breakfast cereal!"

......ad nauseum

Been stuck in my head since 1967.

Odd thing, I kinda like that jungle jingle!

It's not uncommon for some strange song to get stuck in my head, but they usually run their course and are gone and forgotten. A few years ago though, I had Buffalo River Home, by John Hiatt stuck in my head and I swear I thought I going crazy. It wouldn't leave, just kept going over and over and over. I was ready to commit my self.
Odd thing is I didn't have any John Hiatt music in my collection and definitely wouldn't buy any after that incident. I had probably heard that song twice before it was stuck there. Very strange. Had to search Amazon just now to id the song.

Right now it's James Durbin's (?) performance on Conan, the song "Love me bad." It rocked. Too bad I discovered the rest of his music is not the same.

"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iae_0q8-n8Y" It's starts like a book you're sure you'll hate.

thunderbrick,
I so remember that jingle.
Had those tough Hawaiians fighting that tough surf in their long boats.
It had a powerful feeling. :thumb:
