Do you need your amp on while burning in a preamp?
« on: 16 Jan 2012, 01:01 am »
I feel silly asking this question but I am burning in a TRL Dude(preamp) and I'm not sure whether It will successfully burn in without the amp on. Thanks for the input.

It wouldn't matter either way but I'd not leave your preamp on all the time. It's be fine just using it for music.

I don't believe the actual audio circuits are being worked if the unit is just sitting there in the "on" position.

Did you tell me you were getting a Dude?  Just set the volume to low, put the music on repeat, and come back in 150 hours for the first step.  A work week is 120 hours.

Hi David,

You don't need the amplifier on to break in a preamplifier. The input Z of the amplifier will load the preamplifier. Just run a signal and you should be fine. A tuner, TV box etc should be fine.

Cheers and good luck.
