Sub $1K Digital Power Amp - When will this happen?

I find it amazing that some audio company doesn't release a $900 or so digital amp based on the Tripath, LCAudio, TI, etc. chip sets. I think they would make a killing.

I know we have the Carver PRO amps but they are not home audiophile amps per se. The Power Wave doesn't have enough juice for most speakers. The other digital amps (Bel Canto, etc.) cost thousands. Most of the Asian companies are building receivers and not amps (Panny). Seems a company like Adcom would jump on this opportunity.

Where am I wrong?

What about the $800 kit amp (assemble it yourself) LC Audio based amp that DIY cable puts out. Pretty much fits your bill.

There is a digital amplifier coming out from a new start-up company called H2O. Early reports are that it is phonomenal in the way musical notes just evolve in free space. However, it is too early to get the full monty on this unit. The company needs to evolve a bit more. But they are coming.

from initial reports the H20 amp is stellar.
They are just starting out and there is a 6 week wait for them to build the amp. $2000 for stereo, $3000 for a pair of monoblocks.
They are based on the ICEpower modules from B&O
No web site yet.
Very small operation right now, but should grow once the word gets out.

and from klaus-
the first amp out will be a dual mono with 2 x 500 W for $ 1,500.
Later this year we're looking at a pair of 2x 1000 W monos for $ 1,995. / pair.

supposed to be at the ny show last i heard

I might add that I have "great appreciation" for Horizon's good taste in Avatars and found the particular view reminiscent of my little Romanian friend
