V-series info
« on: 1 Dec 2009, 09:10 pm »
Hi Danny, I'm a little confused about what is or isn't available regarding the various V-series speakers.
I'm unable to find any info on the GR Research website. And the info I am able to find is scattered across many different topics.

1. Venue - became V1
2. V1      - became Super V
3. Venuette(V2) - little brother to V1
Is this correct?

Have you thought about creating a "sticky" regarding the V series with all the various info on these, like components used, price and options.

Here's a list of forum topics I could find on this series. My apologies if I've missed one or two, I only included topics that contained info and several replies.

My biggest problem is lack of time. At some point I have to decide if I will spend the day working on the web site or spend the day filling orders or doing some of this design work or assembly work that I have lined up. Usually getting orders out the door wins out.

I see some time coming up pretty soon though to where I will have all this other pressing work completed and I will be able to start on the web page work again.

On the V series: I have not been in too much of a hurry because I have sold out of the SW-12-16FR woofers used in the V-1 and Super-V models. I have been expecting them to be here by now, but it is looking like end of December now when they arrive. I also had some custom plate amps made for the V-2 and I am still waiting on delivery on those as well. They are also looking like end of December.

Danny, when are more Super-V kits ready for sale ????

They are for sale, just sold out. I shipped out a bunch of them right after the show. I can send everything but the lower woofers if someone wanted to go ahead and get everything else and get started on the cabinets.

Okay, Danny,
I can certainly understand, there's only so much time in a day. If your busy, that's a good sign.

I know that a few of these kits have been built.
Maybe the folks here could help out by posting the facts of what they have, for instance:

What kit did you build or have built?
What was the cost at that time?
What are the Drivers?
How much wood to build?
How much no-rez?
et cetera.

The funny thing is that about 90% of the V-1 kits were shipped outside the US.

Maybe that's because the weak dollar makes US exports cheaper on the world market.

From least expensive to most expensive:
Venuette (V2)
V1
Super V

Quite a bit of difference between V2 and V1
Not so much between V1 and Super V

2 or 3 threads explain most of it, including driver model numbers.
