I suppose you have no SG cartridge now?  If you do, I have a very simple op-amp based SG schematic written by a good designer almost 20 years ago.  The op-amps discontinued, but I think replacement available.  Email me and I'll forward it.  Designer deceased, no license involved.  Believe it or not, a few years ago I still found replacement needles for the Panasonic SG cartridge!  You can probably find unused Panasonic SG bodies for free if you look hard enough.

Thanks for the offer, and you are correct.  My time with vinyl ended 84/85.  My ears are much older and I'm much easier to please.  Still, I often wonder how well today's best analogue and digital sources would fare against the EK-1.  If could have anything back, that would be the one piece of gear along with the Alphason and Oracle.

An old friend of mine was convinced to sell his AR TT with IIRC Rega arm, in favor of some UK TT popular at that time (System Deck?).  He regretted it, and badly.

Shelter 90x cartridge and wadia 17 AD converter. That combo made some magical recording of my vinyl. At least I still have the recordings.

The Absolute Sound reviewed a new arm called the Syrinx PU3 and ranked it as the best arm 'they heard' period.  A buddy of mine who also had an EK-1 went that route.

That buddy was me. I have not idea why we traded arms, his Alphason for my PU3, but I think WindChaser talked me into it thinking he would snag a better arm. My analysis between the PU3 and Alphason is about identical to WindChaser's. The Alph a much better arm. When he asked to trade back I said not a chance. I had to get even with a previous deal we made where he got the better end of the stick.

I too went through a bunch of tables and ended up with an Oracle. Crazy days of foolish youth. Like Wind, my vinyl days are long over.

Don't know if this counts but I sold a Sansui 9090DB. It had been my second "monster" purchase. Sounded like ass on the speakers, HPM 100s and Cannons, didn't have the JBL L112 refoamed yet. Very harsh. Delivered the unit and hooked it up to four KLH-23s. Amazing sound, so much so the buyer's wife claimed the set up. I have found that Sansui and KLH go together very well, IMHO.  Now I have three 9090DBs, one non-op, but only KLH-32. So, in reality, I did get it back. Other than an extra Kenwood 9940, I haven't sold many "upper" level units.

I can only presume it would have needed new electrolytic caps a long time ago, but I do miss my old Harmon Kardon receivers model 330B and 330C.  35W IIRC, SS, just a little freaky thing with two outputs per channel that made music like few if any SS of any era. 

Oh, here's a couple of oldies/goodies....Pacific Audio's house brand made by Mitsubishi, "Concept" brand 11.0 (earlier analog tuner) and 12.0 (digital tuner, LCD), both kick butt power houses over 100W that sound like the average 200W amp today.  You'd have to spend serious money for a better power amp today, especially to get that much power.

I sold my Acoustat Monitor Iv's with DD servo amps. That was a huge mistake, makes all other ESL's sound broken even today.

But I am happy to say that bpape here on AC still owns them today.

I sold my Manley Snappers after the OEM tubes that I loved (JJ/GrooveTubes) started having quality problems, blowing up, taking out fuses all the time and even breaking the amps. The OEM tubes Manley switched to (6CA7EH) were stable but blurred and boring. So I sold them in frustration. This was just a few months before Shuguang Black Treasure 6CA7s hit the market, and also the GoldLion KT77s. Either of these would probably have saved my love affair with the Snappers, but alas, timing is everything in matters of the heart! An incredible circuit design, incredible iron, great tubes, beautiful to look at, and easily the most communicative amplifiers I've ever heard. Emotional flame throwers.
