I was trying to straighten some pins in my DVI-D cable that got squashed by the TV being placed down on top of the connector. Anyway I got the pins all straightened but I managed to break the flat ground bar off.

Is this pin even used? From what I gather its only used with DVI-I as the ground side of the analog pins but Im clueless. What would be the result if I tried to use it, could anything bad happen (bad meaning something breaks). Its a special made cable so its not that easy to replace...

Not exactly an audio questions but I wasnt sure what other forum to put this in. Theres got to be more electrical engineers in this forum than any other ;)

Thanks for the offer but I dont think that would help me ;)

This DVI cable is an internal DVI-D that is inside the TV. I had removed it to replace a bulb. Its a standard DVI-D cable except for 2 things...  one end has a 90degree connector (and there just isnt room for a standard connector) and it has these weird extra grounding pads/metal tab on each connector, I assume they are for additional grounding.

I tried to order a replacement from Samsung but they sent the wrong item and I was tired of waiting ;)
