You would use the same O-3 enclosure, but it would be sealed and only have one mid on top (the one towards the front would stay as it is). The BG would face forward as it does, then two XBL mids would be forward facing but towards the bottom of enclosure.

Sorry, that really won't work. The output levels would not match and the impedance would be a mis-match.

Since four sealed M135x's replace two ported M135's in the OB7x, the ratio of sealed M135x's to ported M135's would be no different (in this case 2:1 instead of 4:2).

Four sealed M-130X woofers replace four sealed M-130's in the OB-7 (as an option). The model with two ported lower woofers is the OB-5. Those are a pair of M-130/16's. In all cases the impedance load is 8 ohms.

Since this hybrid O-3 wouldn't be ported, it might also be easier to locate it closer to a rear or side wall, and since the same woofers, mid and tweeter are used, the sound should integrate with the OB7x well. What do you think?

The O-3 is an omni design. It has to be placed away from boundary walls because it is an omni. Sealed or ported has nothing to do with it.

The O-3 works great as designed.

And that's why you should always consult with the designer before making any modifications......

Hi Daygloworange,

I was wondering if you also made subwoofer enclosures, as I am interested in the kits that Rhythmicaudio is offering, but I am no woodbutcher.

Thanks,

Mark

Yes, we could do that as well. The more info you can supply us, the better.

Cheers

Denny,

What would be the cost for:

Flat pack kit of OB-7 pair including bases, with Curly maple veneer on the enclosures, and tiger sycamore for a curved front baffle? The enclosures would be square not curved.  I realize it is possible to veneer the front baffle without having it assembled to the enclosure but how about the 5 sides of the woofer enclosure? Can that be pre-veneered in curly maple so that we can finish it at home ourselves after assembly? Or is that a bad way to do things?

Thanks,
Anand.

Anand.....

You're thinkin' OB 7's with open baffle subwoofers ain't ya!   aa

We could do any and all options for the enclosures Anand, however, I would have to ask why you wouldn't opt for the curved sides on the enclosure? You're going to town on the rest.....

Honestly, you've seen the OB 7's in the flesh, why not let us finish them for you?  We bust a gut on our finishes!

The finish we use if far more durable than anything you can buy from a home improvement center, and DIY results won't be quite the same y'know?

You could always buy the kit from GR and we can build you the enclosures, and save the cost of us assembling the crossovers and installing the drivers. There would be some savings there for you.  :P

Just some suggestions to get you into a pair of 7's.... :thumb:
