Some interesting pictures of something I have been working on with scrap wood and scrap time.

Cool!  What are you using for a motor?  I am assuming your platter is made of bamboo?  I'd love to try a bamboo platter, how did you spin it?

Hey Josh,

The motor will be a PWM (35Khz) controlled DC motor.  I should hopefully be able to get it just perfect, I am going to have it set-up so that a single potentiometer can make EXTREMELY precise adjustments to the motor speed.  The controller and motor will be in a single box sitting off to the left side.

As you can see, I am still using an old arm from a TT that was give to me a few months ago, but honestly I dont even own a ton of vinyl, so this is just to get me started.  At least the table will be good (I think?!?!?!).

The platter was made with a router and a circle jig, then proceeding layers were sandwiched on and flush routed to match the perfect one.  It turns for a REALLY long time.  I need to decouple the table from the stand somehow, but I am not sure how yet.  Bumping the rack really makes some big bass :).

So you are going to use a direct drive system then I presume?  What are you using for bearing?

I am not the expert in DIY table construction, so I am not sure what would make a good decoupler.  It would depend on how you are driving the platter.

No,

Too busy building speakers!!!

Developing a Ronin with a built in woofer amplifier, developing the Sentinel and piano black glossing my pair.

I have the motor controller working though, I just need to build a housing for the motor and tweak away.

My brother had good results suspending his turntable from two ceiling hooks with surgical rubber tubing. Bungee cords would be equivalent but less elegant, possibly.
