I got an older upgrade kit for the AV-123 XLS's and starting to get back into wanting to mod them.

I saw this on GR-Research  "The Mills resistors and Miflex bypass caps, as shown in these videos below, are no longer offered as an upgrade for any of our kits."

I think my kit has these.  What is the replacements or were these eliminated? 

I want to upgrade my upgrade kit if there were any improvements over the original kit.   Life took over and I have been using these speakers stock.... Now I want to finally get off my ass and get them modded!

If you have the Miflex caps, consider yourself lucky. They are no longer available except for a few places with some remaining stock. They were a great $ to ratio. I think SonicCraft and HiFiCollective still have some stock.

Not sure if Miflex just went into restructuring bankruptcy or are fully out of it, but either way they'll be missed. I believe with the Mills resistors, they became Vishay Mills after an acquisition and moved production out of the US. Could be wrong on those details though.

Oh no... The parts in this pic is what I have soldered to my crossovers...  Are there better ones I can get than Sonicaps??

Sonicaps are solid, and Miflex of those values would be massive . If you felt like it, run a 0.1uf Miflex as a bypass on thetwo big Sonicaps. Best of both worlds.

I'm not up on all the details.... Sean Ries of Skiing Ninja back in the day helped me with what I needed to upgrade these speakers.

This crossover has very decent parts. I see no need to upgrade it. The gain would be minimal, ...and expensive.
Maybe the only enhancement would be to not use the PCB and make the connection between parts "point to point". Personally, I would use this crossover as is.

Yeah I already paid a friend to solder all the new parts to the PCB so I think I will keep it as is....  But which one is the bypass cap?

I found the Clarity Cap PUR series to sound very good.

There is no bypass capacitor on your current crossover. What nlitworld is suggesting is to add a bypass capacitor on the two big capacitor (parallel) on your crossover.

Oh I thought Danny incorporated a bypass in this crossover design....  the Schematic Sean gave me shows a bypass cap if I recall....

I think that cap C2 is a by-pass cap on that one.

Seeing the pic of my crossovers, is there any parts that are reasonably priced that I can upgrade on that PCB? Or just use it as is?

Bought the upgrade in 2016 and life got in the way and I never got around to upgrading my speakers. Got another friend wanting to help me finally finish them.

Ummm not sure mine was really a kit... I got the upgraded tweeters, new drivers, internal wire, 2 cross over PCBs, Sonic caps, mills resistors, No rez, replacement screws since mine got oxidized living next to the ocean.

I think thats about it... The crossover above is what mine looks like after a friend soldered the Sonicaps and resistors on.

Now I think Danny sells more of a kit. Mine was more loose items recommended by Sean Ries @ Skiing Ninja
