Alternative amps to use with Subs
« on: 8 May 2022, 07:53 pm »
I built up a pair of H Frame Servos. Has anyone tried an amp other than the Rythmik A370 on their Subs? I was considering trying a non servo amp just for the hell of it. Please share your experiences Thanks.

That’s like putting a 4 cylinder engine in a Mustang.  Definitely a downgrade.

You can not use servo subs well at all without a servo  amp.   They sound terrible and bottom out constantly.  Now if you like to tinker, then you could use other OB subs with the same H frame and run them off what ever amp you want.   I did this in this   https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=139868.msg1893175#msg1893175.   I used the Acoustic Elegance 12s, in place of the servo subs for my Super v and other items.  I have them now in a lower H Frame.

Servo Needs Rhymik Amp.. period

I heard Acoustic Elegance makes a quality woofer. How well did the open baffle subs work with AE woofers?

Can only be one small notch below the speed of servo. Had both. Liked both. Still have the AE

I've heard the AE-15 fifteen inch midrange driver paired with the Beyma AMT tweeter and it was one of the top 5 systems I've ever heard in my life.  And that was with no subs.  I'm willing to bet pairing it with a couple of servo OB subs it might have taken the top spot.  AE makes incredibly good drivers.

is there a better servo amp other than the A370?
Also how did you like the AE woofers. My buddy uses them with audio control amps and they are incredible

No that servo tech only works w the Rhymik amps.  They are truly great. AE are fast and great in the H frame.

Currently there aren't any better amps offered by rythmik, just different kinds.
The most powerful ones they have are the HX 800, which is a 2-channel Hypex servo amplifier. It can run up to 6 woofers in total.(3 per channel)
However Rythmik has been plauged by the ongoing chip shortage making it really difficult for them to get any amplifiers right now.

but that means the AE are not servo and you use another amop? My buddy's Audio Control work really nice with the AE in the H Frame
