Definition of audiophile: "a person who is especially interested in high-fidelity sound reproduction." (http://www.dictionary.com/browse/audiophile)Seems fairly innocuous to me, and in fact, is the reason this site exists. Aligning the whole membership of this site to "disorders that often are related to incest and other ritual abuse's" is more than a little extreme. I'd really hope that GRACE RUBY might take a little time off to rethink these remarks.
And I'm sorry GRACE RUBY but most audiophiles are narcissistic, using music to listen to their systems. Cheap and Cheerful focuses solely on equipment, the music being played on these systems is almost never mentioned. Yet something magical happens with a C&C system, jaded audiophiles stop listening to their equipment and begin enjoying the music for its own sake. Strip away the ego of owning a "Transcendent X470 Mega SE" and all that's left are the notes. No one cares if it's MP3 or DSD on C&C systems, just if it makes your toes tap. Completely unintentionally, we turn equipment lovers into music lovers.
And that is proper clinical use of the word in its origins, Philia anything is a clinical word. The folks (music existentialist) have adopted/stolen the term "Philia" from the therapist and psychiatric community, you can not even legally use the term in a court room as it is described here, and have done music lovers or those in pain no small harm, putting this word usage into its "off origin" street vernacular.
Sorry, but this is just silly. Apart from anything else, the word ends in "phile" not "philia."Are you making the same claim about bibliophiles, Francophiles, foodophiles, etc etc etc?
