I have a newer pair of Cirrus Black with the custom amorphous core RAAL and the 1st order crossover network.  I have heard the old Joule Black at RMAF with the AT midrange and the New Joule White with the Accuton Midrange and the big sandwich cone woofer.  I have heard the Nimbus white as well, and although the midrange is super detailed and resolving, I think I just like the sound of the AT drivers better.  They are a little more subtle with their delivery, more organic sounding, not to say there is anything wrong with the delivery of the whites mid range just a little bit more dynamic than I prefer for everyday listening.  For me the Joule Black, with RAAL and a full range accompaniment of AT drivers, with whatever special sauce Vapor adds to make it all sound so sweet together, that with a good front end...is nirvana.

Thats v helpful to the topic sharpsuxx. Even though I didn't pose the question, thank you.

Following on from a question of mine a few weeks back (re servers: you hadn't heard one that stood out), are you preferring (for your front end) a spinner or a 'puter?

TIA

Come to think of it the perfect storm will have a 15 inch woofer I guess a subwoofer is not needed??

Yes, the PS will have the same 15" AudioTech sandwich cone.  I can't imagine why a subwoofer would be needed unless used for Home Theater at 105db+ in a large room.

Sorry must have missed that one, I do like computer front ends but past a certain point of diminishing returns i.e. no fan noise, no drive noise, stable psu, sufficient memory and cpu overhead, and proper output to downstream components - there is just so much downstream from a computer source that influences the sound.  I am still working to fine tune my room and cabling and tweaking with pre amps and what not at a certain point you just have to make some components "known values" and tweak from other angles.  For me a point of diminishing returns computer is one of those known values, I try out a new one every so often, and the antipodes certainly checks all the boxes.  I hope that answers your question.

Thanks for this feedback, it's really helpful.  I will look forward to hearing the Nimbus black one day and getting a better idea which presentation better matches my ears.

Best,
