Hi Stu, thanks... Yes, that is indeed an Appollo, which serves as my 'back-up' CDP if my main CDP is not working, so haven't used it much. The BCD-1 is around 5 times the price of the Appollo here, so not a fair comparison at all, but the BCD has more extended highs, tighter bass and more definition, clarity and detail; it also has greater synergy with my system. To the Appollo's credit, it has a very textured sound. To fully appreciate the upgrade to BCD-1 however, the pre/power and speakers must also be up to the task, otherwise many of the gains may be lost in translation.
I really bought the BCD-1 due to Bryston's after sales service though; my AVI Lab Series CDP stopped working one day due to a faulty drive, and the AVI people didn't have a replacement drive, so it was a write off. Don't want another one of those unpleasant experiences.
