Not yet, Al. Still working out the logistics.

It would be nice to have other people hear these, so my raves would get more confimation. I think these speakers have not been given the attentiion they deserve, partly because of the extra attention that the BTTB speakers have gotten. That's unfortunate, because like Al says, it's an apples to oranges comparison. Different designs, different efficiencies, and different price range.

Hi Jack,

Any chance you can take some pics of your home setup with the RA8's?

Right now the speakers are in one room, and the( unspectacular )stereo is in another. Everyone has seen the speakers on this thread, since they are the ones that were at RMAF.
I see you are awaiting  the RA8's. Does that mean you have ordered a pair? Assembled or kit? What made you decide on them? Had you heard them before deciding to get them?? When do you expect them? Am I asking too many questions?
You won't be disappointed :!:

Yes I have a assembled pair on order with upgraded caps and damping.
I went after the 95db sensitivity and nice impedance curve for the Clari-T.
They should be here +/- mid November. (NJ).

If Danny says they are good - that's all I need!

Yes, Danny knows what he's talking about and speaks the truth. Some of his earlier remarks are worth re-reading, like "these speakers are impressive'', and "I could live with these and not feel like I was missing much", and "very transparent", etc.
What kind of finish are you going to get?
Of course you will post your impressions of the RA8's when they arrive, right?
"You have chosen wisely."

Questions to Al.
From what I have read you seem to be the man with the plan.

I am new to the forum and have recently purchased a pair of RA8's.
The RA8's have definitely shown me the limitations of my other equipment.

The person I bought them from said they were the pair from RMAF Show.
I have a couple of questions.

Is there any way to tell if these are the speakers from the show? I cannot find any
I compared the wood grain from the pictures in this link to the one's I purchased.
They look very very similar. But it's hard to say for sure. Can't find any seriel numbers.

If they are the speakers from the show what drivers are installed?
(M-130 or M-130X XBL^2  5.25" drivers)

I am considering bi amping them.
What would it take to Bi Amp them? There is currenly a cup installed in the back with 2 terminals in it.
Is there a cup with 4 terminals instead of 2? Or would I use a second cup with 2 more terminals?

Thanks
Tim

They only have the M-130 drivers. No one has XBL woofers yet as they have not arrived yet.

Tim a little work but it can be done.
To  bi-wire you will to make a plate or get a plate made for the 4 posts as you only have a pair of posts now.
This plate will have to be large enough to cover the hole made by the terminal cup yet allow the 4 terminal posts area in the cabinet. This may mean having to cut the cabinet rear wall with a jig saw just to make sure the area is open for the 2 sets of terminal posts.
Then mount the new plate with your 2 sets of posts.
But the wiring you will have to pull from the crossovers.
This will meanremoving the jumper power wires and ground wires that now go from the 3 crossover boards.
Then you will have to attach the power and ground to the terminals on the plate.
Normally you use the top plate for the mids and tweeters and the lower terminals for the woofers.

Drop me a email if you want and I can help you threw the process if you would like.

And
Welcome to the forum 8)

Thanks
Tim

I sold the show pair to a guy in the general area of Denver. His name starts with a "P", and he was trying to re-sell them on craig's list. I liked them a lot, but am moving soon, and want to lighten my load, plus I want to be ready for the next big thing that comes from the Al Wooley/Danny Ritchie brain trust. Like maybe a big line source...
Any way, if you got them in the Denver vicinity, those are probably them, I don't think too many are being sold used in the Denver area. Another thing is the base is unique, being quite a bit larger than the ones that followed, and it's got a ridge around it with square angles like a "step". It's also done in black kind of rough truck bed liner spray.
Glad to hear they got a good home, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did, it sounds like you will.
I may be crazy to sell them, but like I said,I have faith in the next progression. :D
