They are tuned to 49hz with a in room response of the low 40hz range.

If you look at the impedance graph you will see the tuning frequency of 49hz.

We are putting all the data together  as we are getting them all finished.
This was tight getting them out before RMAF but we did it

Sorry Danny and Al, probably could have gotten better pictures.  I think Marvin has some, waiting to see what he took.

That is fine.
Looks like you all had a great time.So how did the RA8 do once Gary's 120's were giving them some power.

Just gorgeous, they really sang with Gary's amps, also played well with the Halcro Digital and Cary SS Mono's we ran them on.  These are some serious speakers people.

I noticed the Gallo Ref 3's in the same room as the RA8's.  How do the RA8's compare to the Gallo's in terms of imaging?  I like Gallo's 3-D imaging, but I'm leaning towards the line source depending how well they project a 3-D/Holographic image.

Thanks,

Arnold

I didn't hear them head to head, but both did their thing very nicely in the different rooms I heard them in.  I spent more time with the RA8's, but the Gallo's caught my ear when they were run by the Blue Circle Integrated.

Maybe I'm being a nit-picker, but shouldn't this speaker be called a "partial line source" or maybe a "hybrid line source"? The woofers are perhaps a line source, but the mids and ribbon are clearly a  point source configuration.
Having said that, I am certainly looking forward to checking them out at th RMAF, and I have high expectations. I would expect the multiple woofers to help with room modes and power handling. It appeares to be a unique and creative set-up, and also cost-effective.

Technically they are not a line source, but can be called an array.

Would 140 watts @ 8ohms from a Bryston 9B-SST be enough power to drive these babies to their full potential?

I am seriously considering adding these to my HT. I think my GR Diluceo's and the Diluceo centre that I'm in the process of ordering would complement these perfectly in an awesome 5.1 system!

Nick.
I would think that will be enough for a pair of RA8 hittting some hi SPL with not even a hick up 8)
This is one of the smooth issues with the RA8 high SPL ,low power draw.
Smooth -well not having to drive a power source into distortion to get listening levels you enjoy!

RMAF is just a few days away and the Pair of RA8 shown at RMAF will be sold at the show!
They are going home with someone from the show.

Those wanting to purchase the pair drop by the room and we are going to take the best dollar.

Along with a Mapa Burl sub with the GR driver. This sub cabinet is in a satin
flat finish
Book matched veneer this sub looks better than the photo.

Those around the show hope to see you.

All the best

I saw this Mapa Burl sub last year at RMAF 04 and really liked the look of it, as well as the sonic performance. I wanted to buy it, but my wife preferred the Makore finish, so we bought that one instead- which was OK with me as they are both beautifully done.
More importantly, it is a terrific subwoofer. Tight, deep, and powerful, and an excellant value. Obviously, I recommend it highly.

And of course, I'm looking forward to RMAF 05 and hearing the new speakers.
