George....I have a question. From this photo...right side of your room...
Your room is two rooms...front room and the "old" dining room. Since from the picture I see part of the wall "sticking" out between the rooms, does this have an effect on the sound your hearing in your listening spot ? (meaning...its not a straight wall....sound gets caught there in the corner).
You notice anything like that ? Thanks....

Chris,

I am getting the best sound I have ever had from a system, so if the "wings" between the rooms are really impacting things, it can't be much.

Each wing is only 18" wide and has lots of Ethan's product.

Any comments or thoughts from our acoustics experts?

George, congrats on the new setup...looks great!  As Ethan previously mentions, the next thing to do would be to get more traps for the wall-ceiling seams...

The big question I have for you is:  How the heck did you commandeer the living room AND the dining room from your wife???? :notworthy:

Simple, the new house is double the size of the old house.

So there is a family room, a play room, a tv room...well you get the point.

We don't need or want a formal living room or dining room, so no issues.

Now, I need to find time to get the built.   :o

I'm sure having traps in those small "wing" corners helps, but I can't tell how much. It might be that moving those traps to wall-ceiling corners would be a better use of their absorption. I'm not saying it would be! Just thinking out loud since you asked for comments. The only way to know for sure is to measure the room (ETF or similarly sophisticated) and see what changes without those two traps. If it gets measurably worse, then leave them. Otherwise you could move them because we know that wall-ceiling corners are viable. Especially those in the outer-most corners of the room.

I will try and get to taking measurements.

All my wall-ceiling corners are covered with the new Tri-Corner traps.

I think they were referring to the wall ceiling junction at the mid wall location (so more or less above the speakers in the above photo). You may consider moving your minitraps from the wings to that location and getting 3 8th Nerve Adapt rectangles for the wings (one for each side and one above the opening between the two rooms). Spacially it may look better and get you better sound. I would also consider a minitrap for the front wall (between the windows, and maybe even an 8th nerve Adapt rectangle for the wall ceiling junction above it. I realize you have an all RealTrap package, but I think the Adapt line would complement the RealTrap setup nicely.

I had some of my minitraps setup this way in my old house:

I am just not sure if this will be an option in my new room.

Gotcha... she had to get her opinion in one way or another . BTW, the old room was nice, but the new one is like an exhibit in comparison. Very well done.
