PMC IB2 versus MB1s

I am looking to upgrade to either new pmc IB2s or nearly new MB1s.
Has anyone compared these speakers, and what were your finding?

I compared the IB2 to the MB2. The difference is considerable.
The IB2 is excellent but the MB2's sound is simply more realistic.

Ok but the mb2s are a bit above my budget, so I want to find out how the older mb1s are performing agains the new IB2s.
I have heard the MB1s and thought they were very good.
I however have never heard the IB2s but I was told that they perform better then the MB1s.
I was also told that the new IB2s have the same mid and high drivers as the mb2s, and all though the MB2 are sonically better this is mainly noticable when you compare them side by side.
So I want to find out what the strenghts and weakness are of the IB2 and the MB1s.

The only difference between the mb1 and the mb2 is the cabinet and the crossover I beleive. So the ib2 v mb1 should boil down to the newer crossover versus the bigger driver. I am sure you could upgrade the mb1 crossover to mb2 spec so I would go for the mb1 abnd upgrade the crossover. The mb1 cabinet doesnt have the rounded edges of the mb2 cabinet.

I have scheduled a demo of the IB2, MB1 and MB2 to help make up my mind.

I believe you are wrong. They upgraded the Bass driver .

I disagree, the MB 1 or 2 do not sound any more "realistic" than the IB2's. I've compared all three and found that IB2's have better imaging and the bass response is not as dry - IB2's have more kick. As such, I preferred the IB2's, especially in an average sized rooms. The only reason to ever consider an MB1 or 2 is if you have an unusually large room IMHO.

What room size did you compare them? The mb2s need a huge room for the bass and imaging to be correct.

That's exactly my point, I agree with you. It's important that people realize this when considering which to buy. I tested in two different rooms, one was 16' wide by 21.5' deep and the other was 18' wide by 23' deep. These are mid sized rooms and the I personally preferred the IB2's in both rooms.

You need a bigger room and the mb2s way clear of boundaries.
