Hi,

I've been trying hard to share my iTunes library with a new to me BDP-1.  I'm stuck at the 'Settings - NAS Setup' screen in the Manic Moose firmware. 

1.  I have the latest firmware, S2.42.
2.  My iTunes library is on my PC.
3.  I can access the firmware from my PC via a Wi-Fi router.
4.  The wireless router is physically connected to the BDP-1
    - the Network Interfaces tab can see the BDP-1
    - the wireless router IP address corresponds with the IP address reported in the Network Interfaces tab
4.  The firmware appears to be able to attempt to 'Add Share'
    - NAS Setup sees my PC as an SMB device
    - I add the Username and Password
    - Clicking 'Next', the firmware quickly moves to 'Share'

This is where it appears to breakdown.  Nothing is selectable in 'Share'.

Sadly, I'm not an expert in these things.  I've turned on 'Share my library on my local network' in iTunes. 

I have doubts that I'm the first individual to try to use my PC as a NAS and to try to use my iTunes library.  But, maybe I'm wrong?

Hi Bark,

Can you tell us which version of Microsoft windows your using (ie 10, 8.1, 8, 7 or older)?  Personally I've found setting up windows file sharing on a pc or even a Mac rather difficult since xp.  The BDP-1 only supports smb version 1 currently, meaning if your running Windows 10 you may need to re-enable this(found under "add features" in the control panel).  If might be easier to connect a drive to the BDP as the NDP will share any drive connected to it while the BDP powers on.  You can copy the files to this drive over the network and would give you a backup of your iTunes library as well.

Thanks for the support.  Yes, I'm using Windows 10.

I found your following post here last night (after posting for help) regarding the file sharing change by Windows and did try to enable the SMB searching.  That didn't seem to help.

To your next point, I think I've cried Uncle and will move to the next step to try getting a HD connected directly to my wireless router or, as you mention below, try connecting it directly to the BDP, I hadn't understood that I could access the drive over the network.

I was able to load some files on a thumb drive.  Magic!  Very nice sound, super stoked!

Either of the other two options will likely be easier and provide you with a second copy of your music files in case something happens to one of the two copies.... assuming you haven't already done so.
