Hi all

-I trying to find some info about  how big changes there must be done to get Aksa 100W amp working with 240v?

-Those Nirvana things, is these direct changes to the design(need to desolding)? or is it Addon's like loudspeaker protection - soft start/stop(muting) to avoid pops when push on/off or what is it?

Hi jochr,

There is an AKSAphile in Coppenhagen, check these thread

http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=12513

or email him at aksa@email.dk

The AKSA for 240V operation will require the transformer to be spec that is suitable for your local power as in U.S. 110V and 240V as for your case.
The kit doesn't come with the transformer.

The nirvana and the Nirvana Plus upgrade requires desoldering to implement.

I hope these help.

Cheers

Hi Jochr,

There is no problem using the AKSA amps in Copenhagen. The 240 V is well within the range acceptable to these amps.

Upgrades to the AKSA amps are not add-ons. You need to replace components on the PCBs. I would suggest as a minimum going for the Nirvana upgrade at once. Whether or not you want to go all the way and have the Nirvana + upgrade is really up to you.

If you're in Copenhagen, you'll be most welcome to come and listen to my system. It incorporates a GK-1R and an AKSA 55 Nirvana. Please feel free to email me at aksa@email.dk.

Cheers,

Jens

Hi Jochr,

Thank you for your post, and thanks also to Rom, Jens and Werticus for their excellent advice.  Thanks again, Jens, for your kind offer to invite Jochr for a good listening session.

The AKSA is not supplied with transformers, as they are too heavy to ship inexpensively.  You buy them locally, suitable for your local power grid.  You would buy 240Vac primary toroids anyway;  this is never a problem.

The Nirvana upgrades consist of operating point changes, dimensional changes, and ultra-high quality audio components, such as Black Gate capacitors.  The upgrades were developed after the stock kit was released in response to requests from customers, who noted how good the amplifier was, saw the absence of audio jewellry in the product and felt more sonic quality might be possible.  I was dragged screaming into this exercise, because I felt highly priced audiophile components were much too expensive, but I plodded on and discovered to my horror that improvements were indeed possible.  I am now fully committed to Black Gates, and only yesterday cleared another large shipment through Customs.  They do make a difference, a huge difference, though they do take some time to bed in.

I hope this answers your questions,

Cheers,

Hugh

Thanks All for the fast and great answers.

Jens: I will within 2 weeks sent you a email, and again thanks for the opportunitie to hear Your 55N+.

Aksa: Perhaps i should start with the 55N, most of all those post on this site are talking about how great the 55N and N+ is.

Hi Johnny,

You will be most welcome at AKSA Scandinavia.  :D

For the record - my AKSA 55 N is not yet an N+. I have the upgrade kit lying ready, but I've had an entirely new roof put on my house, which has taken up a lot of my time. However, the 55 N is absolutely great as it is. The N+ is coming, though ....

Just out of curiosity - do you live in the Copenhagen area?

Cheers,

Jens

Hi Brian,

Well, there has been a few Danes here. In time, we should be able to have a Danish AKSA fraction
