Thanks OB, the TNT article is one of the ones I was referring to, so much for my memory about being a user review, but it reads like one so that's what I remembered.  I hadn't seen the bogspot article, the second review I read must have been on a forum somewhere.

This tube preamp now costs around $60 and for more inputs get a Niles switch box. There's no signal loss with the Niles.
