I have not heard this preamp, but reviews on it were pretty good:http://www.ebay.com/itm/110768209599?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649The B&K Pro 5 and NAD preamps are not bad deals at prices slightly under the asking for the two quoted units, but neither are they fabulous steals. The Pro 5 is not close to the Pro 10 in sound quality, thus the much higher prices the Pro 10 garners even to this day. The Pro 5 is a very nice preamp when used in passive mode (you can choose between passive and active circuits with a push button on the front panel), but somewhat flat and metallic in active mode. If you like passive pre's it could be a great option. If you can stretch to the Pro 10 I would recommend it.The NAD is also a very pleasant sounding preamp, musical with a natural tone, but significantly veiled and soft. If you prefer this relaxed presentation it's a winner. Although I like my NAD I always seem to want more when it's in circuit, like I just can't hear everything I can hear in my other preamps. Because if stuff is not less there's more less stuff, then you might want to have some more. But then, your parents won't let you because there's only a little. If you really like something, you'll want more of it. We want more, We want more, Like, you really like it, ya want more.
They only have 2 inputs, but there's probably a way to build and rig two Bottlehead Quickie battery-powered tube preamp kits together. $100 each, disposable batteries not included (but tubes are ). Might be your best bet sound-wise for under $250.Waiting for mine to be delivered! http://www.bottlehead.com/store.php/products/quickie-battery-tube-preamplifier
The Bottleheads would be pretty cool but between having never soldered in my life and having peripheral neuopathy in my fingers and hands takes care of trying to build them
The L10 would be great, have had a few of their units in the past and its good stuff..the Chinese preamp, any reviews by chance?
Gosh, I wish I could remember where I saw them at, both user reviews, one fairly long, the other a blurb.
