James, elsewhere, has explained that the upcoming BHA-1 will come in two flavours - one with an internal power supply and a lower cost option for those who have an MPS-2 power supply.
I would like to know which of these members of this Circle would choose?
I've looked at my setup, which includes an MPS-2, and decided, if I buy a BHA-1, to spend the extra money for a unit with an internal power supply. Reasons?
First, I've discovered that headphone gear is more dispensible than components in the rest of my system. That is, I already have owned four different headphone amps, and it is not inconceivable that I might be attracted to another one even if I owned a BHA-1. A headphone amp without a power supply would be harder to cycle out of my system, even if I wanted to give it away.
Second, normally I don't use the rest of my system when I fire up my headphones. A BHA-1 with an internal power supply would mean I need not run my preamp to use them given my present setup.
Any other thoughts?
