I got these CDs (all mint with original liner notes) at a garage sale for a DOLLAR each... There were hundreds to choose from. She must've been getting rid of everything she'd put on iTunes. It was a great collection, and there were many others I could have bought, but there were two or three other guys going thru it while I was, so I'm pretty pleased with what I managed to grab:

Ali Farka Toure/Ry Cooder/   Talking Timbuktu
Billie Holiday/   Love Songs
Bob Marley/   Songs of Freedom (disc 3)
Bob Marley/   Catch a Fire
Chris Isaak/   Heart Shaped World
Dave Matthews Band/   Listener Supported (*live, two cds)
Elvis Costello/   King of America
G. Love and Special Sauce
Getz/Gilberto
Gipsy Kings/   Best of
Jane's Addiction/   Nothing's Shocking
Janis Joplin/   Greatest Hits
La Traviata/   Discs 1 and 2
Latin Essential II
Lyle Lovett/   The Road to Ensenada
Maceo Parker/   Life on Planet Groove
Nina Simone/   Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood
Nina Simone/   The Essential
Norah Jones/   Feels Like Home
Phish/   Lawnboy
Phish/   Junta
Phish/   Rift
Pink Floyd/   Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Pixies/    Trompe Le Monde
Radiohead/   Amnesiac
Radiohead/   Kid A
Red Hot Chili Peppers/   Californication
Red Hot Chili Peppers/   Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Ryan Adams/   Gold
Sade/   Best of
Talking Heads/   Speaking in Tongues
The Shins/   Oh, Inverted World
Tom Petty/   Full Moon Fever
Tom Waits/   Swordfishtrombones
Tom Waits/   The Early Years
Tom Waits/   Bone Machine
White Stripes/   White Blood Cells

I know. I still get chills thinking about it. A guy next to me must have bought 150 cds. There had to be more than 1,000 there ... and I think it might have been a couple different collections -- roommates, maybe. But dang. Good stuff.

I just got a great score of eight Telarc sacd discs from Berkshire Music Outlet (www2.broinc.com) for CHEAP @ $4.99 each. It looks like a number of them are from tower Records old inventory. Most are classical, but I also got Rory Block's "Last Fair Deal" and Robert Lockwoods "Delta Crossroads." They are a great place to get classical titles for bargain prices.

I have been a classical fan for decades and have thousands of CDs, but every once in a while I find something really special that I've had no idea was out there. The Rachmaninov cello sonata is one of those pieces. This is truly a symphony for cello and piano with a particularly ravishing final movement. Anyway, search it on Amazon and you'll find reviews written much better than I can write. Fanfare magazine says the best version is the Truls Mork recording. There's a link below where you can order copies, all used, I believe, since it is now out of print. It took me a few months to locate a copy, but there are several available at Amazon now. For other versions, many rated five stars by reviewers, just search at Amazon, "Rachmaninov, cello sonata."

I see that there is at least one source for a new copy of this in the states.

Just got the new Maceo Parker "Roots and Grooves" 2-disc set. The first disc is a tribute to Ray Charles, and the second are some of his more recognized songs.
It is done with a big band instead of his usual group, but the extra fill in is really nice, sound quality excellent too. :thumb:

I have all of them.   Attack and Release is good, I like the last one prior and the Rubber Factory the best I think.

I recent picked up:
Porcupine Tree - Nil Recurring
The Black Keys - Attack and Release
Sun Kil Moon - April
The Raconteurs - the new one
