Bought 3 cds yesterday which don't fit my usual style of music. They have a Coffee House sound which I found quite relaxing and enjoyable. Good for times when the mood strikes.

Pagliaro- Hit Parade
I bought this for the song, Some Sing Some Dance, great song. The rest of the cd is good, but nothing outstanding. Disc II is mostly sung in french which is why I like it. Not understanding the words adds to the ambiance.
Although the recording is good there is something not quite right. When I try cranking which is already loud, it distorts. So I going to run it through my BCD-1 process to smooth out the harshness when cranked.

Diana Ross and the Supremes
Got this for the song Love Child. This song sends a shiver up my spine. Love the way Diana Ross sings it. Couple other hit songs we've all heard on the radio. Nice Coffee House feel.

Anita Baker- Rhythm of Love
Another Motown type music that I got by accident when the clerk at the store gave me the wrong disc for the Pagliaro album. Again fits the Coffee House ambiance.

Jakob Dylan-Seeing things

Very nice acoustic set showing off his singer songwriter skills. I was never a big fan of the Wallflowers but this one works for me. Raw and engaging.

I woke up today having zero intentions on adding to my music collection.  In fact, the thought hadn't even crossed my mind..........until I came to this place and happened across a few posts...  what began as a hunt for two discs turned into ten purchases! BASTAGES!!!

Bach: The Art of Fugue
Chet Atkins: Plays Back Home Hymns
Dave Brubeck Quartet: Jazz Impressions of Japan
Dead Can Dance: Serpents Egg [SACD]
Dead Can Dance: Spiritchaser [SACD]
Ella and Louis Again (Dig)
Joni Mitchell: Blue
Kate Walsh: Tim’s House
Melody Gardot: Worrisome Heart
Sonya Kitchell: Words Came Back to Me

The saddest part is, I actually set out to get some modern *nu metal?* rock and electronic....   Oh well...

I recently picked up the vinyl Electktra re-issue of the Doors LA Woman.  They did an excellent job of recreating the original cover with transparency and rounded corners.  The sonics are superb; better than I had expected.  What a great band!

Dropped by the Virgin record store today...picked up 14 cds(some being 2-3disc sets) for 103$ tax. inc.

Virgin has a 35% off all Classical, jazz, world, and country music...until supplies last.

So not sure if that signals a downsizing of their music software or trouble pending in the store's existence. But there's some good deals to be had especially in the World, Jazz and classical dept.

My first FLAC 24/96 downloads from HDTRACKS.com:

John Abercrombie | Badi Assad | Larry Coryell  - Three Guitars

The Persuasions - The Persuasions Sing The Beatles

Various Artists Chesky Records - The Ultimate Demonstration Disc Volume 2

I can say that 24/96 sounds outstanding on my system and these are well worth the small premium (about $4 more per album) for the higher resolution.   :thumb:
