I’ve been listening to Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris “ALL THE ROADRUNNING” when I first seen it I thought what a strange combo, Knopfler (ex-Dire Straits singer) with a country singer Harris (I’ve always liked Emmylou).

So after about the third time around with this new CD I’m so glad I picked it up, it does have a country sound to it though.

Have been avoiding work the last week or so...so been spending a lot of time rearranging the system...recently took delivery of a custom Jolida Signature 3205A( a Bill Baker creation), so have been racking up the hours on it...snucked out to J&R Music today and picked up the following discs.

1. E.S.T. ~somewhere else before. Read an article about this group some time ago, and recently ScottF posted spinning their latest in another thread. Jazz at the frontier.
1. Joe Henderson. A Milestone Profile series of musicians that recorded on the Milestone label in the 60's. All remastered in 24bit 'glory'.
3. Jeff Gauthier. ~one and the same. Got wind of this from a CryptoGramophone sampler. Gotta love the independant labels, they are the ones pushing the music outward and beyond. Jazz beyond bebop.
4. Bennie Maupin. ~Penumbra. Another fine album from the CrypoGramophone label.  Bennie and percussionish Daryl Munyungo Jackson were original members of Hancock's Headhunters. Very good sonics.
5. Cannonball Adderley Sextet. ~In New York. Recorded live at the Vanguard in 1962. Brother Nat on cornet, Yusef Lateef on sax, flute and oboe, Zawinul on piano, Sam Jones bass and Louis Hayes on drums. Top notch band.
6. Shirley Horn, ~You won't forget me. Lots of special guests, including Miles, Branford and his brother, Billy Hart, Buster Williams.
7. Eric Dolphy. Prestige Profile series.

Dion - Bronx In Blue
King Apparatus - Marbles
The Politicians - Press Some Flesh
Incognegro - Incognegro
Hugo Montenegro - Mammy Blue (LP)
Albert Hammond - It never rains in southern California (LP)

The LP's are a gamble, I got no idea what they sound like. They cost $1.00 a piece and look just about new.

Van Morrison: The Philosopher's Stone

Everytime I get one of his discs it rarely ever dissappoints and I always feel like I waited to long to hear it.  Who does what they do better than Van does.

And these were throw aways and b-sides...all artists should be so lucky.
