"perfect", but not in the way most of these suggestions have been -

"Transfusion" by Nervous Norvus, 1957.  Not Hi-Fi!

The B side of the 45 (that unfortunately has vaporized into the mist of time) was "Dig". Similarly bad/perfect.

Do you have any musician friends with DAWs? (digital audio workstations) 60Hz hums are really easy to completely remove with a very narrow cut at 60Hz, and even more often, 120Hz.

Use a bandwidth of .04 octaves, or a Q of 12 or higher and dial in a cut of 5 - 18 dB or so. The higher the quality of the EQ, the more you can take out without unpleasant artifacts.

I haven't listened to that cut in a while, but my recollection is that the hum is from SRV's amp.  Not much you can do about that other than doctoring the audio file as was suggested.

Amplifiers hum!  That's true high fidelity right there, why would you wanna change it? :)

Nothing fancy is needed, I could do this for you in Adobe Audition if you can get a file to/from me.  I've done it on a track that had an annoying high pitched tone (some sort of artifact?).  I'm sure many others here could do this for you too.

True, but of all the SRV CD's I own, this is the only song that has the buzz. No other song on any other CD. Of course it's my favorite SRV song too.

BradJudy, the only way I know to get you a copy would be to mail it to you.
PM me an address, I'll mail the CD.

Thanks guys,
Bob

Beatles -- "Because" -- Abbey Road. The nine part harmony blows me away.
Jeff Buckley -- "Hallelujah" -- Grace.
Jane Siberry (with kd lang) -- "Calling All Angels"  -- When I Was A Boy.
Steel Dan -- "Aja" -- Aja.
Radiohead -- "Fake Plastic Trees" -- The Bends.

Bob Dylan -- "Like a Rolling Stone" -- Highway 61 Revisited.

Bob - I'd wager that you'd miss it big time once it's gone, and revert back to the "raw" version.  With your Silver Irises, it must be like the amp's right in the room, and you want to pull a curtain over it?   :D

I can only imagine what a decent music DVD must sound like on your rig - I'm thinking David Gilmour - "Comfortably Numb" from the Royal Festival Hall Concert ,  no make that  "Shine on you Crazy Diamond',  no,  make that "Wish you were Here" -  dammit just play the whole thing.  Your volume still goes to 11, right?

Then follow up with "Sade in Concert" - forget about HD sports, that's when the projector pays off!

cheers

Ooh, ooh, I have a few, or perhaps many, or even too many.

California Dreamin' - The Mama's and Papa's (or the dark moody version as recorded by the Beach Boys)

Heard it in a Love Song - Marshall Tucker Band

Just What I Needed - The Cars

I Get Around - Beach Boys

Flowers on the Wall - Statler Brothers

Pipeline - The Chantays (okay, it's an instrumental...)
Toccata and Fugue in D Minor - J.S. Bach (yet another instrumental...)
Fanfare for the Common Man - Aaron Copeland (next to last instrumental I'll mention)
Aztec Fire - Jay Bocook (a marching band piece I played in High School - our school had about 600 students of which 212 were in band!)

That's Right (You're Not From Texas) - Lyle Lovett (I have to give a vote to the Texans!)

Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash

Devil with the Green Eyes - Matthew Sweet

Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Refugee - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Don't Do Me Like That - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Anarchy in the UK - Sex Pistols

While My Guitar Gently Weeps - The Beatles
Eleanor Rigby - The Beatles

Thank You Friends - Big Star

Losing My Religion - REM
Radio Free Europe - REM
Texarkana - REM

Dreams - Fleetwood Mac
Sara - Fleetwood Mac

Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
The River - Bruce Springsteen

Everlong - Foo Fighters

Your Cheatin' Heart - Hank Williams Sr.

She Sells Sanctuary - The Cult

Uptown Again - Afghan Whigs

Crying - Roy Orbison

Who Are You? - The Who

Satisfaction - The Rolling Stones

Okay, that's enough.

Chris

Oh well, hell. Now that you've "romanticized it", I'll have to listen again with a fresh perspective.
Who knows, maybe that was Stevie's intention, for the listener to feel like it's "you, him, a guitar and an amp" sitting in a room.
Far be it from me to "fix" SRV's intention".

OH YEA!!  8) Floyd, Waters, Gilmore sounds reaaal good. That kinda' music was made for the clarity and openness of OB. aa I still have not heard "Animals" from Floyd on the system. That might freak me out too much though. :o
Regarding the volume; I've got four volume knobs, multiple electronic settings and 128" worth of drivers.
Yea, it goes to 11  :thumb:

--2 channel--
Eagles - "Hell Freezes Over"
David Smith - Solo trumpet {forum member screenname "selmerdave"}
Anything Floyd/Gilmour/Waters (as mentioned above)
Marsalis boys [sp?] especially "Berta, Berta" and "Mable"
Other people who's names I can't spell :duh:

--multi channel--
Saving Private Ryan - Opening battle scene
U-571 - Depth charges
Star Wars - many scenes
Bad Boys II - Chapter 5 (?) car chase

{Hey what do you expect from a HT guy? Gotta' have some movies too}
