Bruce Springsteen - Human Touch, Brilliant Disguise, Better Days, Secret Garden, Devils and Dust, All I'm Thinkin' About
The Boss understands human feelings in ways, better, than most people probably ever will throughout their entire life I think.

I'll second
Lush Life
. It really communicates a state of mind or a place in time as does
Something Cool
for that type of place. It's also from the pen of a sixteen year old genius who couldn't have known what he was talking about but that was Billy Strayhorn. For a song about lost love, hows about
What's New
? Bruce Springsteen has, indeed, captured some states and places in some of his songs. Don't kill me for saying so but I think
Back to Black
by you know who is a perfect composition. Never a classic, however, I would agree. There are a lot of perfect songs. What makes them perfect is what interests me. I hope this topic runs for awhile.
(later) Amelia- You have rather exotic tastes. Might you have been a resident of the lower east side at some time?

I'm coming in late on the Stevie Ray 60hz hum, but that is part of what makes it one of my perfect songs. I am in the room with his amp, putting off heat and buzzing! Awesome!
Eva Cassidy, live: Autumn leaves
Pink Floyd: Comfortably Numb
Stevie Ray: Tin pan alley
Leonard Cohen: Alexandra leaving
Boz Scaggs: Thanks to you (Dig CD!)
Narnia soundtrack: Cut 11 (whew!)
