Older Jeff Rowland amps SQ and reliability
« on: 24 Oct 2011, 11:38 pm »
I have never tried a JFRD before and was looking into one of these for my ATC 75/150S mid and SS7100 tweeter.I have a chance at a local Model 2 amp and being as my mid/hi is 94db(ish)sensitivity and the Model 2 is 75/150w/ch,it may work. They say these older amps are good on mid/high's??I will use Krell on lows.I was wondering if anyone has tried these older models(mid-late 90's).And if there is anything I should look for for problems.
thanks john

Hi John

I am using it's bigger brother from the same era,the model 8ti and from what i remember from articles, reviews etc those Rowland are perfect for bass.In fact, they were the only amps who could compete in the bass area with the big Krells.Anyway, if you want to use it in a bi-amplified system for the mid/high-frequencies,i don't believe you would do wrong. My loudspeakers use a pair of those ATC midranges and with the 8ti the music is made in heaven and the model 2 is even sweeter sounding :)
