as per subject: myth - possibly the best LDR based preamp for sale. 5 line inputs, 1 output - all RCA. display and remote controlled. state of the art LDR circuitry for absolute and usurpassed transparency with input/output JFET buffers with <3ohm output impedance for slam and drive no other passive/zerogain pre can achieve.
the unit bested a number of top products from similar field such as music first (copper), TAP-X (with slagle AVCs) as well as plenty of active devices from pass labs, electrocompaniet etc.
it also bested every other LDR based product i have compared it with - i found the original lightspeed completely unusable unless you have >100k input impedance on your power amps. EVAs are lower class and quite inferior sounding too.
the unit is upgraded to the latest myth spec and will be re-checked by the myth audio before sending for peace of mind.
basically you are getting a brand new device, more or less.
the reason for sale is that i'm ordering a custom made myth DAC/pre from the same maker. unfortunately DAC can't fit into the same box and i don't want to cannibalize the unit. i'm staying in the same family
for quick sale - $1000 including shipping and paypal fees. that's about half of the price of the new one.
PM me for pics and more details if needed.
here's a testimony of another user:
"I found the Myth to be the best preamp I have ever used. I dont have the range of preamps that George possesses, so I cant make comparisons on the same scale. I was looking for something very detailed and transparent, and had previously thought a transformer-based passive might be the answer. Not being able to afford the Music First I got the Glasshouse TVC from hificollective.
That was certainly detailed, and I heard a lot on CD and LP that I'd never been aware of before, but there were downsides. In my system, there was a thin-ness to the sound, particularly in orchestral music, and also, it seemed, an emphasis towards lower frequencies and a corresponding lack of sparkle in the treble, very noticeable on piano recordings. That may be partly due to an interaction with my power amps (input impedance 10 kohms) and my preference for listening at moderate levels.
The Myth displayed all the detail and transparency I hoped for, combined with a weight and fullness to the sound. I especially liked the bass, which is very clear and articulated, but it seems well-balanced across the frequency range. Rhythmically it is very sharp, and fast-moving passages and staccato notes are particularly clear and distinct. The Myth has a very low output impedance and is therefore well matched to my power amps (and probably to most others as well)...."
