Ikea Expedit shelf missing corner screws

Picked up the four hole Ikea Expedit shelf at a local garage sale, but it is missing the pegs and screws in one corner.

Thought about picking that up at Ikea, but you couldn't wedge in those wooden pegs.  Since I am not moving it anywhere,
what would be wrong with just squirting some wood glue in that one corner, and then putting some heavy stuff on it to dry?

Just want to store some of my records in it.  But, as we all know, records have....density.

You can get dowel either the right diameter or pretty close at your local hardware for next to nothing.  Cut a small length and put it in the peg hole with some glue.  Alternately you might be able to find the appropriate screw at Home Depot in the the aisle where they have fasteners and so on that you can purchase by the unit...

Thanks, django11.
I get the dowel part, but as I suspected from the guy at Lowe's, he said the predrilled hole and length, etc, would probably be
a 'special' screw.  I think I need to see if my allen wrench set can unscrew one of the ones already in place, and then I can do some kind of matching at Home Depot.  My call to Ikea went nowhere.  Why am I not surprised?

Remove one screw from another corner and take it ti the Depot to match...

Better yet, glue a wood dowel across, even if you have to over drill the far side.
"Let stand overnite"
Then, narrow drill down the dowel and lag it with a long Sheetrock or deck screw.
I like that idea!

Take that screw, go to IKEA customer service area, they have hundreds of bins there with hardware that their product use, match it and get a few for free.

Probably true, but I am just going to put in the screws that came closest from HD.
Just don't have the hour+ to waste driving down and back to Ikea for this project.  Though that Swedish meatball lunch...
Little bugged that that the laminate? (fake veneer) is coming off, and will just glue that right now.

With the depth of these screw bolts, I can see why this was a good candidate for holding records.

I can't tell from your pics, so I don't know what shelf it is, I am kind of like to know what is that for the lps.

I love shopping at IKEA, their stuff are very well designed with efficiency in mind, most people think they made low grade stuff and it's not true.

A while back IKEA actually sold 13" X 13" crate for lps, and I bought 20 of them for $9.99 each, each holds about 30 to 35 lps. They came in black or white color. I like them because all my lps will not be limited to one spot like on a full size shelf. I can move the crates around individually as I please.

I think kids eat free, or for $2.00 there on one of the week days, I think it's Thursday.

Here is the one I picked up for $15, but now has been a bit of a pain, with the plastic veneer peeling on me, and two trips to the Home Depot and Lowe's, and you are right, the screw bolts do NOT go completely flush.  But hey... They are $40, and sometimes on sale.

They have them in in a 8 cube stack, but structurally, I don't know how good that would be. Probably better to stack two of the ones above.

I just saw your post. I recently bought a few expedits and I have two extra bolts that I could send to you.

Thank you, Paul.
I do remember that "awesome" thread.
Thank you, asikhs, but I am heading south this Saturday to finally, finally pick up that solid state 1986 VanAlstine preamp with the busted power button, and the Ikea store is on the way, so I will drop in for the lunch, and pick up a jar, or two of the fabulous lingonberries jam.

Lingonberries grow in the ancient forests of Sweden. Serve with meatballs, on crispbread or toast, or with pancakes, ice-cream, yogurt or cereals.

The Ikea I go to in northern Virginia has a little nook near the returns area that is full of screws, dowels, and misc parts for boxes that cam missing some parts.  Maybe your Ikea does too.

Thanks, Scott.
I will be looking for it.
I probably should unscrew again one of the original screws to get the right ones.
I am tempted to just pick up another set $40, just to have it for my other records, and to save a trip.  $15 was a bargain, though.
