Ed - Yep, thought about that too. Just thinking about ways to keep the footprint down in my hypothetical, although you are probably right in your solution would be the "best" ideal case.
All of this thinking came up as I was looking over some RMAF coverage here, and clicking around some google searches, I ended up reading a short stereophile blurb discussing a TAD room at a show that was set up to demo surround hi-rez with five channels. Then I got to thinking that with the super-v's high sensitivity, you could probably run a multichannel setup with them to stupid volumes (or average HT-type stuff) if desired off of even the most humble of AVRs because the power output from the amp driving the coaxials doesn't need to be very big at all. . . could get to shopping for quality over quantity in an AVR rather than having to go dedicated pre/pro and amps needing less power, and still stay more on the affordable side. Sure, may not be as subjectively "good" as splitting the amps off on their own, but in terms on simplicity, ease of use, etc. . .
