The WyWires BLUE Series.

The BLUE is a much more cost effective series of cables that retain much of the performance traits that have been articulated here, in other forums and in professional reviews. We have reengineered the industrial design of our standard cables utilizing different connectors and other materials resulting in excellent cables at much more affordable prices. The performance of the BLUE Series is quite similar sonically to our existing designs but is slightly less luxurious in look and feel.  The BLUE cables are handcrafted as are all WyWires products. This new series will incorporate Cardas RCA’s, Vampire Spades and Banana Plugs, Neutrik XLR’s and Marinco AC ends.

Retail pricing is as follows:
4’ Stereo Pair Interconnects (balanced and SE)      $369.00 + $25 per foot for longer lengths
8’ Stereo Pair Speaker Cables                    $495.00 + $40 per foot
5’ S/PDIF Digital Cable (RCA and BNC)         $189.00 + $15 per foot
5’ AES/EBU Digital cable                       $189.00 + $15 per foot
5’ USB Cable                          $189.00 + $15 per foot
4’ Power Cord                          $199.00 + $10 per foot
7" Speaker Jumpers                                              $75.00

Through December 31, 2011, we’ll be offering these at an introductory price that is 20% off the above retail price. The existing cable line will continue to evolve and have the name “SILVER” Series, while the upcoming Bybee enhanced cables will be named “GOLD”. The BLUE Series is available NOW. Our website will be updated this weekend.

Thanks Russ...I committed to three gift certificates to be raffled off at the LAOCAS meeting in December. The room did sound great and in fact much better than at CAS and Newport. I think the combination of the new Modwright KWA 150 and the Bybee's really did the trick as those were the only changes other than the room. We had our stuff in the Modwright/Daedalus room too.

Do you think the BLUE is 90% of the standard line?

Really hard to say. The BLUE is a trickle down from the SILVER. For some people with some systems, the difference will be greater and for others it will be less. The Cardas RCA's do sound different from the Xhadow.

Ok.  Are there any applications that you would actually recommend the BLUE over the SILVER aside from cost?

Cost and practicality are the overriding considerations. It makes no sense to use $1300 speaker cables on a $2000 pair of speakers. Will the guy with the $2K pair notice a difference? Maybe and maybe not. I think that the BLUE is a better value for many people and I would recommend it based on the customer's system. The SILVER is also a good value for more Patrician systems especially when compared to some of the crazy priced stuff out there.

Hmm, looks very interesting.  Alex, is the basic geometry and conductors the same, with the differences being in the Silver series having superior terminations and finishing (techflex etc)?

Very cool news, Alex!

Those prices, especially during your 20% off promo, should bring wywires to the masses.  I'm sure these will be a hit (and probably gateway drug!).

Congrats on the new line Alex.  I think you're making a very wise business choice bracketing your product into 3 tiers as that strategy has been successfully employed from cars to cables.  Best of luck and continued success to one of the real gentlemen in audio.

Hi Ajay,

The basic geometry is the same however the combo of dielectric materials is different. The silver series has much more expensive dielectric, outer sleeve (2 layers) and of course the Xhadow connectors. The gold series will be different still with a different dielectric than the silver and will have the large diameter Xhadow RCA's and XLR's in order to accommodate the Bybee Purifiers.
