This should really be posted in the Sweet Deals circle, but since I own a slightly older model of this very unit, lets see if we get any discussion on it and we may leave it here.

I found it to be one of the best deals out there because it's offered a deep discounts whenever there's a new model coming out and they need to dump old stock.  No fancy regeneration, regular MOV's for protection, basic filtering, just a does it's job unit.  There's two high current outlets that really do work in not choking off the dynamics of your power amp.  Effective metering to show if your local power is off voltage.  I wouldn't buy it at the retail $599, but at $120 it's a steal.

Hey Letitroll, would it be worthwhile buying that to stick on my cdp and dac (hoping to go battery dac in the future, so mainly cdp.. then again I may music rail my dac), or should I save my pennies for something better? My money must be spent strategically and any diversions have to be a sure thing. It would be kept long term.

But, but it says "ultimate power conditioning for serious audiophiles, loaded with innovative features, advanced design, Advanced Overvoltage Protection automatically disconnects power from your equipment when the input voltage reaches a dangerous level, and restores power automatically when the voltage returns to a safe level. "

Seriously tho, I read that Movs are not that good.  Anyone care to comment?  Also, the last part in the quotes, when input voltage reaches a dangerous level it just shuts down power to everything connected to it??

Really interested in this as the old monster strip I have is really old.

I guess I shouldn't speak as if I have this unit, I have an older model of the same thing and mine definitely has MOV's cause I opened the case and looked.  Standard chokes and caps for filtering nasties with more complexity in the circuit than a strip conditioner, laid out neatly on a nice, big board.  It was the best unit I could find at a reasonable price, and it looks like this sale is the same deal with a newer model.  I use it in conjunction with a large isolation transformer for my digital gear.  It's hard to say how well it works cause when it's working properly you shouldn't hear it.  I haven't noticed any reduction in dynamics using the high current outlets and things seem slightly blacker when it's in line, but I'd be hard pressed to say it's a drop dead SQ improver.  I mainly like the convenience of one power source and more complex filtering than your standard power strip.

MOV's are not inherently bad if implemented properly.  They are meant for instantaneous protection of surge events, not a continued short in the line.  There should be overvoltage sensors that cut the AC in that case, which the Belkin has.  They do eventually wear out after multiple exposures to surges, and can fail immediately when exposed to nearby lightning hits that shunt directly into your wiring.  If you want expensive TVS diodes instead you have to pay the price.

Thanks for the response.   :thumb:  This would be for the HT (TV, PS3, DVD, etc).  I think I'll get one.

Need a couple UPS's too.

Delta Wave

I've been using one for the past five years, along with an AV40, while I've never noticed any audible differences they do work quite nicely and are very convenient for the 12V switching and delayed power-ups.

Well I orderd 2 on Monday @ $125 each, and they arrived today. I'll be putting one in the living-room for the LCD, Blu-Ray, X-Box, and Reciever, and one down in the basement on my main system. I'll report back on the results after some listening/viewing. I also noticed that the price went up to $190 at Buy.com, but Amazon has them for $168...

Well I really like it! It has improved my system a good deal!

Disclosure: I was running my system through a decent, but still simple Belkin power-strip before this as I only have one outlet near my system.

This unit has given me a more quiet background, more expansive sound-stage, and better dynamics too. Well worth it for me!!!  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

FWIW, my 11 year old son asked what happend to the TV, said his X-Box games look better than they used to...

Only change was the addition of the power conditioner.

Yeah, I've noticed power products in general, cords and conditioners, have what might fairly be judged a greater impact on video quality than sound quality.
