This is serious issue, we are talking of time/money loss of a custumer.  I will stay away from Ebay, seems not safe.

This year I lost 28dollars with 2 SACDs from ConcordMusicGroup, ordered in 28Dec2010 it never came to my address, I asked a refund in August2011, but so far, no credit, no even a reply from Concord.

If it was $50, I would not waste anyone's time posting about it. 

 The amp was $350 plus $50 for delivery, so the total was $400.   The guy already responded and said he would refund my $350 if I ship it back to him.  The box literally fell apart when I cut the tape.  It's running now at a very high level.  Any higher and my woofers would explode!  I can get the amp to clip but it is running very cool and cranking out some impressive power.  I don't think any hifi amp would have made it through this in one piece. 

Going to keep it running, turn it off and fire it up again.  If it keeps running without any problems, I'm keeping it.  I don't have a box that will work for this one and don't feel like rounding up some foam padding, and waiting for this joker to refund my money.  I don't think I can give him negative feedback because he offered to refund my $$$ (minus shipping costs).  Will grit my teeth and give him a neutral if I don't send it back.

Holy sh**. SEND IT BACK, packed well, if for no other reason than so the dumbass can see what proper packing looks like.

OOps!! I was incorrect..please accept my apologies all, if it hiccups once unplug it and ship it back in the same box after you tape it back up BUT put that box in a better box and do it right to show the guy what is the correct way. Help him out by teaching him and also it will arrive safe and sound protecting your investment so he won't hassle you about the refund. Just a thought....

The postal mail of my country is slow on delivery, and Concord sent this order with free shipping, but by slow overseas/surface ship(not airmail), it was not my fault.

What is the weight and distance?  I've shipped some big amps, insured, properly packed, for under $50 FedEx Ground.

It'd be worth $50 to me not being reminded of that moron every time I looked at the amp, to say nothing of worrying about its reliability.

That packing job SUCKS!  Whoever took that box from him (USPS, FedEx, UPS, whatever) should have refused to take it!

Maybe have him refund your $50 for not fulfilling HIS responsibility?

Thunder, I agree and can't believe ups accepted this package.  It's a heavy amp in a paper thin box that was literally falling apart. These amps are solid because the ups guy literally dropped it on my front step and I could hear metal hitting concrete through my closed front door. It is playing and sounding good as a subwoofer amp.

Scratchy pots are no big deal because it's a sub amp and once it's dialed in, I'm not going to touch it.  A sharpee should fix the scratches.

That is good news, it must be a well built amp.

As a side note, when I shipped my amp to the factory for an upgrade the manager at the UPS Store said their insurance does not cover damaged electronics unless it is double boxed. They will still insure it and take your money if single boxed but good luck collecting any damages.

Yeah, the local FedEx place wants to INSPECT the packing BEFORE accepting it if something isn't in the original box.  They have learned to trust me (small towns are great!) but my packing is bulletproof.

I've stood in line at the post office and seen some appalling packing jobs.  It's a wonder that any of it gets there on once piece.

A couple of quick questions ...

- Has the seller agreed to reimburse you if you send it back? What about shipping charges, both ways? Will you get your money back up front or risk the guy shafting you in the end (remember, he's a moron)?
- Will you send it back as you received it, or repack it properly?
- If it is working perfectly and you like what you are hearing then why send it back at all? You got lucky.

yes, you got lucky.  unfortunately, i have experienced many idiot sellers w/the same (lack of) packaging skills.    even when i am extremely explicit telling them beforehand how i would like them to pack.  once in a while, i have gotten lucky, like you did.  i have learned to never buy anything on-line w/o a credit card.  that way, if there's any issue , i simply cancel the payment.  i tell the seller i will ship it back once he has refunded me the purchase price and shipping both ways.  if he refuses, then i simply keep whatever it is.  the credit card companies have always backed me if they have proof that i have offered to return the goods and the seller refuses. 

in your case, i would simply keep it and count your blessings that you dodged a bullet.  but i would certainly give the seller negative feedback for the packaging - only dumb luck prewented the amp from sustaining serious damage.
