price reduction

I'm not in the market but you might want to include your zipcode.  Good luck with the sale.

I've always been intrigued by what I've read about these and several prominent members use and swear by this system.

 Looks like a great deal.

These are terrific speakers and can work in any room plus are super easy to drive.

For a lot of people these are the ultimate, I'm surprised these are still available. If I didn't have my own thing going I'd definitely be interested.

So if these were originally built in 2009, then the cabinets are built from... plywood?

(I know he uses a polyurethane material now, but I don't know when he switched.)

Thanks!

Earl had a lot of reasons to switch... there were minor sonic benefits, but it was more than that. The original cabinets took a lot of effort to build and also were damaged in shipping quite a bit (the new ones have been more than he expected too, it seems). The newer cabinets may look a bit nicer and also have the woofer to be mounted differently so the screws aren't visible, that's the nicest thing about them IMHO.

The cabinets he built in 2009 were fantastic, though. I have a pair...they're very solid. I've done everything in my power to avoid selling my pair of Abbeys and for good reason. Need 130 db peaks? CD? Efficiency? Great SQ? All there.

Buyer to pay for all shipping (or pickup at 75032 Rockwall TX). Woofer will be shipped separately from the enclosures.

I recommend you disconnect the tweeter as well for shipping. When Earl had his tour of the Demo Nathans, either one or both (can't remember exactly) of the tweeters broke off of the mounting plate in shipping. Doing this would require the new owner to go back and apply the clay to the intersection of the tweeter to the waveguide, and reglue in the foam in. -But nothing major, if they were to be painted that would likely be done anyway.

I think this is a really good opportunity for someone who can DIY the paintjob. The Abbeys are incredible.
