Dynobot's Touch Mods
« on: 5 Oct 2011, 10:47 pm »
Has anyone here used Dynobot's mods on there Touch? Has anyone with firmware 7.6.1 r9486 used the mods and been able to hear the differences on the fly?

Here is my problem. When I was first installing them on my Touch I was able to hear the changes and more specifically the spdif settings I could hear a change of 2. But after trying to write the changes to the rcS file something went wrong. And I had to do a hard reset. After doing the hard reset and reloading TT 2.0 I tried to reload the Dynobot mods and I am no longer able to hear any difference with the spdif settings. I am wondering if a fireware update took place.

Anyone able to give me some help with this?

Thanks,

Mark

I can't be of much help here but I am trying to implement these mods as well, and read through this long thread about them:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89359

From what I gather, and this may not be totally right, but what I thought was a simple "change these few values" seems to be much more.

I don't really understand the programming going on at all, but from what I can tell the IRQs (is that the correct term?) can change (from log-in to log-in? upon Touch SW update? I don't know) so that some of the hard-coded "new" values actually don't get used.

So some have written up instructions to detect the actual IRQs used each time the Touch is started, and then set those values to the desired ones.  I really don't know if it is necessary to get all fancy and complicated like this or not

So you may be right - A new version of firmware might have changed the IRQs and now your values don't apply to the right lines any more.

Sorry I can't help, but I'm more in the same boat trying to understand how to implement this correctly.

My system isn't set up right now so I can't evaluate any SQ changes.

Mark, Mike,
You will have to start at the beginning to make sure that the IRQ's are still correct https://sites.google.com/site/computeraudioorg/squeezebox-touch-tweaks

Yes, I verified IRQ's prior to doing the mods again. I don't know what I did in the hard reset but it stopped the Dynobot mods from working.

I discussed this in another thread http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=82624.msg992083#msg992083
Remember to reset to factory specs, do the Soundcheck TT 2.0 mods and finally add the rcS additional lines.  Also I have no changes to the spdif priorities in mine as I don't use it.
