Marantz CD6003: Where?
« on: 3 Oct 2011, 03:38 pm »
Does anyone know a shop or site in the U.S. that sells the Marantz CD6003 player? It seems like it's not available here.

Thank you.

The Marantz UK site lists both a CD6003 and CD6004 (new).  The US site lists neither, although Amazon claims to have one CD6004 in stock with more on the way, although I would inquire to verify it is a 120V/60Hz model.

Onecall has it for the same price as Amazon.

Not sure that Marantz released the CD6003 in the US.

The one on Amazon is sold through Will Call.

According to WhatHiFi, the 6004 is the revised version of the 6003. The 6003 looks great on paper. Is it better then the Virtual Audio M1 player, which I now use?

Just my guess, haven't heard either I doubt you'd notice any meaningful difference, and might end up missing the M1.

If I were going to switch up and get rid of my Erc-2, I wouldn't move laterally to a similarly priced player, I'd move way way way the heck up. I notice your posts generally tend to be about curiousity about getting rid of what you have for something else, but not really going for it, and I feel like maybe you're approaching this all wrong.

No doubt I am going about it the wrong way. But I'm not really close to wanting to toss off my M1. It sounds great to me, which means a lot.

What speakers are you running? Have you measured and treated your room yet?

I'm in the same boat as you, I think. But I'm being pretty methodical about it, getting each stage in place (researched at best bang for buck).

Once I get the complete top to bottom system built (treatment down to electric), that's when I begin looking at greatly upgrading the source components, one at a time, slowly. The reason to not make any changes right now, for me is that I haven't truly heard the pieces in their fullest capacity until the complete system is done.

I'm happy with my Bel Canto integrated, Quad 12L2 speakers and the M1. I also feel satisfied with my cables, interconnects and power cables. Treating the room is probably not possible because my wife will never tolerate strange looking pieces of foam or cloth on walls or in corners. I'll just have to live with how the room sounds.

I can't. My room has a lot of flutter echo and I'm sure other problems, it's gotta get dealt with eventually. I have planars so it isn't so bad at all, considering they're well placed and I'm nearfield, but I know my room can and will sound much better than it does.

Good luck to you. Hopefully someone can chime in on Marantz players for you. My player was going to be the 5003, and I had very nearly ordered it, but then I discovered the Emotiva. Anyway. Cheers.

Which Bel Canto integrated are you using?
I used the eVo2i for a couple years. It was a very nice amp.
